What has been occupying my free time for the past 2 days (well, this and coding a layout for the Oshitari/Gakuto fic archive I took over from [livejournal.com profile] orpheneritus, like, 50 years ago 8D

It's taking foreverrrrrr though. The layout I'm copying off ofadapting is really complex, and I'm afraid I'm going to be digging myself into a hole (this design you see is only about half of the finished product) and nothing will fit and I'll just want to SHOOT MYSELF IN THE HEAD for having attempted it, but...if it works, it's gonna be EPIC XD

Going to watch Kurebe Takuya (guitarist for DUST) sing in front of Starbucks tomorrow XD Forecast calls for rain, yaaaaay :P

Also, I booked a flight home today! Not the sneaky summer one I wanted, but a very cheap Christmas one that, hurrah, I don't have to pay for :D

Got off late from work today because people wouldn't COME IN WHEN THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO, so I licked my wounds via a layout massacre in Photoshop, leading to beautifying [livejournal.com profile] sexygaju with a HOT new layout. (though random: LJ seems to be squeezing the background image eversoslightly :/ anyone know how to fix that? parts of it are blocky and sliced, particularly Eiji's name and the imagemap at the bottom >_<) Note to self: credit some people like [livejournal.com profile] ullheins for the kickass scans that made it possible DUH

Am growing tired of the sameoldsameold *pnish* one I've had on here for ages and am going to whip mahself up a new one because I rock that much. And then translate til the cows come how because I owe [livejournal.com profile] sarahofcroydon another GP I DO BELIEVE SO.

New year, new mood theme, new journal layout (ZOMG I CAN CODE THE COOLEST STUFF NOW SOMEONE ASK ME FOR A LAYOUT I'LL DO IT I SWEAR)~

Monday, I hopped on the highway in my little cavalier and headed west...til I hit Dallas, at least. Went to see BarebackBrokeback Mountain with Scott and Amy, and had a WONDERFUL time. Saw Yi for the first time in at least a year (and didn't recognize him, LOSE), and though he didn't go see the movie with us, he DID take us to a fancy-schmancy sushi place.

Yes, I went to a sushi place. For those of you unfamiliar with me in real life, I'm quite a paradox in that I love the Japanese language and culture, the people, BUT I CANNOT STAND THEIR FOOD. Or rather, I can't stand what goes in it--I'm horrendously picky. No seafood (except for tunafish), very few vegetables (suffice to say, salad rarely passes my mouth unless dripping in some sauce), all in all not really conducive to enjoying Asian cuisine.

But I went anyways, convinced that I'd at least have fun conversing with the wait-staff, if nothing else. Sadly, we didn't really have a waiter, as it was a buffet type thing, but I tried some stuff anyways. Downed a california roll dipped in wasabi sauce in one bit--worst thing I've ever tasted in my life, and it wasn't cause of the wasabi XD That I hardly tasted--I think it was the cucumber that didn't agree with me, though. Amy tried to take a picture of me eating it but failed miserably ♥

I did have some beef and chicken we boiled in the hotpot, though, which wasn't bad. Tried some miso soup (tastes like fireworks smell, but not too bad, I kinda like how fireworks smell XD) and udon (the noodles...yeah, those are a definite no), and ate a fried sweet potato, not too bad~

For desert I had some an-pan (it's so weird eating sweet beans that STILL TASTE LIKE BEANS SOMEHOW) and flashed back to Yakitate! Japan, then we all ate some red-bean ice cream, which tasted more like strawberry.

So THERE. I went to a Japanese restaurant, happy now?

OH OH OH THE MOVIE!

OHMIGODBESTMOVIEI'VESEENINYEARS.

I was bawling--bawling you guys. The whole last 20 minutes. Guys, I'm sorry, you wouldn't enjoy it at all, I don't think, unless you were REALLY open-minded, but still! Oh guh, there was so much emotion packed into it, particularly towards the end. You could feel the desperation, the downward spiral, and you pretty much knew how it was going to end even as the script took its steps towards that climax. There were most definitely tears aplenty. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who'll go see it--totally worth the 3-hour drive, and I know I'd do it again.

I heard it's coming out 'everywhere' the 13th--anyone know if this is true? Cause I SO want to see it again.

Watched BuriMyu at long last today--all I have to say is WHAT?! It...definitely wasn't what I was expecting o_O I mean, yeah, it was GOOD, and I am in LOVE with "Honasai Nara" and the song Nagayan sings (dammit, couldn't they have come out with a soundtrack?!), but it was so disjointed! It didn't even flow chronologically. If I hadn't seen the series some, I'd have been SO confused. But I suppose they fashioned it assuming their audience would have seen it, of course.

And WHY did I only realize while watching the musical that Ishida wasn't there? o_O I mean, it's like not realizing one of the Seigaku regulars wasn't in the musical til halfway through! Most everyone has room for improvement in their voices--Tuti, Nagayan, MoriEiji, and Ohkuchi have all come SO far, they're great! Rukia's actress was very good in some parts, and >_< at others. Definitely looking forward to seeing Kitamura Eiki as Urahara ♥

The backstage, though?

SEVEN LEVELS OF LOVE. WOW.

For those of you interested, I translated a good bit of it and posted a summary with screencaps here. ♥ Enjoy, lovelies.
