New New New!

New year, new mood theme, new journal layout (ZOMG I CAN CODE THE COOLEST STUFF NOW SOMEONE ASK ME FOR A LAYOUT I'LL DO IT I SWEAR)~
Monday, I hopped on the highway in my little cavalier and headed west...til I hit Dallas, at least. Went to seeBarebackBrokeback Mountain with Scott and Amy, and had a WONDERFUL time. Saw Yi for the first time in at least a year (and didn't recognize him, LOSE), and though he didn't go see the movie with us, he DID take us to a fancy-schmancy sushi place.
Yes, I went to a sushi place. For those of you unfamiliar with me in real life, I'm quite a paradox in that I love the Japanese language and culture, the people, BUT I CANNOT STAND THEIR FOOD. Or rather, I can't stand what goes in it--I'm horrendously picky. No seafood (except for tunafish), very few vegetables (suffice to say, salad rarely passes my mouth unless dripping in some sauce), all in all not really conducive to enjoying Asian cuisine.
But I went anyways, convinced that I'd at least have fun conversing with the wait-staff, if nothing else. Sadly, we didn't really have a waiter, as it was a buffet type thing, but I tried some stuff anyways. Downed a california roll dipped in wasabi sauce in one bit--worst thing I've ever tasted in my life, and it wasn't cause of the wasabi XD That I hardly tasted--I think it was the cucumber that didn't agree with me, though. Amy tried to take a picture of me eating it but failed miserably ♥
I did have some beef and chicken we boiled in the hotpot, though, which wasn't bad. Tried some miso soup (tastes like fireworks smell, but not too bad, I kinda like how fireworks smell XD) and udon (the noodles...yeah, those are a definite no), and ate a fried sweet potato, not too bad~
For desert I had some an-pan (it's so weird eating sweet beans that STILL TASTE LIKE BEANS SOMEHOW) and flashed back to Yakitate! Japan, then we all ate some red-bean ice cream, which tasted more like strawberry.
So THERE. I went to a Japanese restaurant, happy now?
OH OH OH THE MOVIE!
OHMIGODBESTMOVIEI'VESEENINYEARS.
I was bawling--bawling you guys. The whole last 20 minutes. Guys, I'm sorry, you wouldn't enjoy it at all, I don't think, unless you were REALLY open-minded, but still! Oh guh, there was so much emotion packed into it, particularly towards the end. You could feel the desperation, the downward spiral, and you pretty much knew how it was going to end even as the script took its steps towards that climax. There were most definitely tears aplenty. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who'll go see it--totally worth the 3-hour drive, and I know I'd do it again.
I heard it's coming out 'everywhere' the 13th--anyone know if this is true? Cause I SO want to see it again.
Watched BuriMyu at long last today--all I have to say is WHAT?! It...definitely wasn't what I was expecting o_O I mean, yeah, it was GOOD, and I am in LOVE with "Honasai Nara" and the song Nagayan sings (dammit, couldn't they have come out with a soundtrack?!), but it was so disjointed! It didn't even flow chronologically. If I hadn't seen the series some, I'd have been SO confused. But I suppose they fashioned it assuming their audience would have seen it, of course.
And WHY did I only realize while watching the musical that Ishida wasn't there? o_O I mean, it's like not realizing one of the Seigaku regulars wasn't in the musical til halfway through! Most everyone has room for improvement in their voices--Tuti, Nagayan, MoriEiji, and Ohkuchi have all come SO far, they're great! Rukia's actress was very good in some parts, and >_< at others. Definitely looking forward to seeing Kitamura Eiki as Urahara ♥
The backstage, though?
SEVEN LEVELS OF LOVE. WOW.
For those of you interested, I translated a good bit of it and posted a summary with screencaps here. ♥ Enjoy, lovelies.

Date: 2006-01-04 06:35 am (UTC)Someone understands meeeeee!! Well, the not liking most Japanese food part anyway XD; And I'll try anything! Something about sushi, and seafood in general (except for shrimp, etc.) is just... bleh. I like curry though, and ramen, etc, but for some reason that sushi... yuck. >.>
AND ZOMG THE MOVIE
I CRIED TOO *bawls with you*
THE SHIRT PART MADE ME BREAK DOWN GAWD
THE SHIRT OF LOVE!!

Date: 2006-01-04 08:41 am (UTC)THE SHIRT *weeps*
Every commercial for that damn movie almost makes me cry (and they're playing all the time on the channels I watch for some reason!! AHH!!)
GAHHHHHH

Date: 2006-01-04 09:12 am (UTC)I wept for Bareback Mountain, and I weep too knowing that you're unable to appreciate Japanese food like I do. There's so much wonderful stuff you're missing out on :( You should at least try shabu shabu. I know it's one of the few things Nat eats and enjoys, and since you guys seems so similiar in tastes I bet it'll work for you too. Go go!

Date: 2006-01-04 04:07 pm (UTC)And we had shabu shabu too, and it wasn't THAT bad, just...I dunno, bland? XD Maybe I'll just stick to miso soup and ramen with some curry~

Date: 2006-01-04 12:18 pm (UTC)...and for the record, *much jealousy on having seen Brokeback Mountain* Someday!! Someday my gay cowboys will come! ...wait, that didn't sound quite how I intended... Eh, close enough. *six AM, canyoutell??* - -;

Date: 2006-01-04 03:31 pm (UTC)And hehe... I'm the same way with Japanese food. ^_~ I'm trying to pledge that for this trip I'm going to be better though, because over there I really have a hard time. I mean, I love sushi there, mostly I think because the fish is better, and at kaiten zushi you can have as much tamago as you want (and that's my favorite) lol But yeah, it's a funny paradox, isn't it? I'm worried about shabushabu. *nodnod*
And nya! The movie! ;___; I'm seriously still having nightmares. I kept thinking the whole time - This is what happens when you break up your OTP - May this be a lesson to you all! ;___; So sad. *sniff* But so good. :(
And yes, Burimyu is so freaking disjointed. I love it, but only because I can't follow the story really anyway, and I do really, really like the songs, and the choreography, etc XD Though yeah, looking at it logically, it's a nightmare. XD;;;;;
And ok, I guess that's all I had to say. Sorry for the disjointed spazziness. ^_~

Date: 2006-01-04 04:04 pm (UTC)You know I love your spazziness XD But it still amuses me that you have nightmares about Tuti and Nagayan ending up that way or something XD

Date: 2006-01-04 07:32 pm (UTC)And mou... Yeah, Nagayan keeps dying. I hate it. ;_____;

But let's just go with NO. No, I you didn't spoil anything by reading that because I would never do something so dumb as make a comment like that without a warning. XD;;;;;

Date: 2006-01-05 12:18 am (UTC)I would've probably heard about the ending by the time I actually got around to GETTING it anyway XD (I can't see the movie so I'm waiting until it's out on DVD -_-;)

Date: 2006-01-04 08:48 pm (UTC)Besides that, I must say, you are SO lucky to have seen that movie~! I’ve seen little previews and snips of it but I can’t see it because it’s far away and I’m a couple months too young to see it alone yet >_>; So I’ll just wait until the DVD comes out ^^ It sounds amazing though! I can’t wait to see it myself. *squee* I actually am thinking of basing my editorial letter that I need to write for Journalism class on it because our teacher is submitting our class letters to our local area paper, and recently they had a comic about Brokeback Mountain. I’m going to write my letter to the editor about the comic because it was completely focused on a man who saw the movie and became homophobic because of it. Which I think is so stupid >_>; I mean, obviously it was an AMAZING movie to get the amount of attention and outstanding reviews it’s been getting. I just was really pissed about it >_>!
OMG. You are just like me when it comes to Japanese food~! I’m serious, I can’t stand most Asian food at all… and yet, here I am, planning to move to Japan after college XDDDD I’m the pickiest eater myself. Although I’ve been to Japanese restaurants in the past, I never was one for the taste of most of the food I ate. The last time I went to a Japanese restaurant was before I was so obsessed with Japanese culture, but if I ever do go to one again, I’m definitely going to try and strike up a conversation with some of the waiters/waitresses or workers there. Or just put in some totally random Japanese words into my order (“Yes, I’ll take the sushi with ‘kawaii ne!!!’… er the sushi with *insert some random Japanese side order here* and then ‘aniki ga nanda!?!’ … I mean, some green tea.” XD) But yeah, I’m a walking contradiction when it comes to Japanese food… XD;
I haven’t watched BuriMyu yet - although it had finished downloading when I checked before school this morning – but by your description, I guess I need to watch some Bleach before I watch the BuriMyu. But… maybe because you were confused after already having seen Bleach, if I just don’t watch any episodes beforehand, I won’t have to go through the trouble of wasting my time watching the anime and then being confused by the musical. I can go straight to being confused. XD;
The backstage was pure love, however… omg I’m going to watch that 10000000x more times when I get home tonight. TUTI IS SO HILARIOUS. I love his reactions to just EVERYTHING during the part where is stuff goes missing. HA-LAR-EE-US. XD; Btw, thank you so much for your synopsis of the backstage <3 <3 *rabu rabu* I would’ve been SO confused if I hadn’t read that as I was watching XD But god… I died… Tenimyu needs to have more backstages like that~! Seriously, Dream Live 2nd was HOW long with HOW MANY PEOPLE and had a pathetic three-minute backstage?! WTF. And then Hyoutei didn’t even have one >_>; T3h bastards! XDDD Not really, but a twenty minute backstage compared to like a two minute backstage is AWESOME. <3 *huggles BuriMyu* Although I must say I’m extremely upset about the whole ‘no soundtrack’ thing *pout* And I was going to buy it too… T_T I fell instantly in love with Nagayan’s song (no surprise there XD) and GUH now I have to figure out a way to take the sound clip out of the musical (is there even a way that you can do that?) *growl* Oh well…
Heh, I had fun reading your post so I felt it deserved a nice reply XD; Thanks again for the Bleach backstage summary~! :D

Date: 2006-01-04 09:03 pm (UTC)You MUST see Brokeback, it's a really wonderful movie. AND YES! BURIMYU BACKSTAGE XDDDDD I'm so disappointed at TeniMyu backstages of late (or lack thereof, but it's new cast, so I'm not as giddy for them >_>), but BuriMyu pulled through ♥ So muc Tuti/Nagayan love, so much hilarity. I'm glad everyone's enjoying the summary ^_^

Date: 2006-01-05 01:33 am (UTC)LOSE AGAIN for not noticing Ishida wasn't there.
And you TOTALLY know I want a layout. If you can pull the pic off of this (http://k2c.pinky.ne.jp/k2c_cgi/shumi/board.cgi) site, I'd LOVE you. But otherwise, some randomly awesome GP/TxN moment will do. ^^ Test out your mad skillz.
And we need to stop being so alike. It's scary that you're as picky (about food) as I am. DUDE, whoa with the parallels and crap.

Date: 2006-01-05 06:56 am (UTC)Because over half our population on O'ahu is Japanese (including myself) we have kickass asian food. :D Come heeeerrrreeeee and you can see. MWAHAHAHA.
