...Well there goes MY fun summer.

Apparently because I'm not ROLLING in dough from translating (i.e. not making $200 a week, a salary I wasn't even earning back at LSU when I was CURING CANCER) this means I have to go out and get a real job. They recommended a nice number of retail outlets and fast food chains--jobs I'd, I'm sorry, SOONER SLIT MY WRISTS THAN WORK AT IF I CAN HELP IT THANKS ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ Nevermind, though, that I COULD CARE LESS HOW MUCH MONEY I'M MAKING TRANSLATING. My purpose this summer was to translate and use the money from that to put forward to rent, which I'd have a nice little nest egg by August.

Then my mom and dad and I had one of our annual chats last night about how I need better work ethic, and translating isn't bringing in the money I need right now. And then my dad pulled the dirtiest card of all and told me he wants me to be able to afford to go to Japan whenever I want and wouldn't it be nice to have the money to do that???

...Okay, let me say this. I whine about wanting to go to Japan, BUT I'M NOT THAT DESPERATE THANKS. Guys--if I get that desperate? So desperate to go that I work in retail? PERMISSION TO HUNT ME DOWN AND SHOOT ME IS YOURS *headdesk* Tuti is SO not worth putting up with OTHER PEOPLE for 8 hours straight 5 days a week for months on end *shudder* I'm not a people person at all, and would likely be fired within a few days XD

I did find out, though, that apparently the Multicultural Center of the South is located, like, 15 minutes from my house, downtown o___o And what's more, the ONLY person they have working in their offices down there for any special culture? A 'Miki Tanaka' from Oita, Japan.

...WTF THANKS FOR TELLING ME, SHREVEPORT. I sent her an email in some vain hope that I might be able to file papers or something down there and just bask in her general native Japanese presence as pay or some such XD ♥

I also put up a resume on monster.com and shreveporthelpwanted.com, but...come on, I'm a college student with no degree, looking for summer work, there's not going to be much available beyond lovely retail. My best bet was sending an email off to some people looking for a church secretary (20 hours a week? Yes please!), since they only asked that the applicant be familiar with Excel. I'm thinking they'll want someone permanent, but who knows, I might get lucky.

*sigh* Maybe I'll go see if Barnes and Noble is hiring...

HAVE I MENTIONED HOW MUCH I DON'T WANT TO WORK RETAIL?? ♥

STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM RETAIL!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!

*traumatized*

What about an office job? Are there any temp agencies nearby? Office work is far preferable to retail. @__@ But then, being ripped apart by wild dogs is far preferable to retail.

If you actually do end up working in retail, however, I will change my tune very rapidly and extoll its few virtues so it won't seem so bad. :P
