I bought a ticket, I mentioned the other day, to the December 8th On6 showing on yahoo auctions, and despite the fact that it's a really good seat, the price is going to be a mere 1000yen more than the base price--which makes me very happy.

However, all my Y!J auctions I pay for with furikomi (money transfer) which thanks to work I can only send off on Mondays. So far all the sellers have been fine waiting a few days, but I was worried because this seller would have to wait almost a week, so I made sure she was fine with that in an email.

She emailed me back saying it was perfectly fine, but added that she was worried the ticket might not reach me in time if she waited til receiving my money before shipping the ticket to me (I can't send it til December 3rd, and the show's 5 days later).

So this girl is sending the ticket to me tomorrow. And trusting me--a GAIJIN--to pay her. I calmly (well, as calmly as I could) thanked her and said I'd try and ship it off before the 3rd if possible then XD

And I will never ever tire of being complimented on my Japanese. Well, maybe after 20 years if I'm almost fluent then XD

question: do you use keigo when you write to the sellers? Last time I bought something off the auctions was like a year ago when I couldn't even manage it in regular Japanese and had my coworker write back for me, but I'm bidding on some stuff now, so yeah, just wondering ^^;

I speak to the sellers politely, yeah, using -desu/masu forms, but I don't speak as politely to them as they do to me, because I'm the customer, technically. I'll use moraimasu when they'll use itadakimasu, I'll use just a -masu form when they'll use o-____shimasu. Haven't had any complaints yet XD

But when in doubt, be overly polite, I guess :D

I think I'd manage to offend someone if I tried to be overly polite XD; so I'll just stick to the regular polite forms, I think ^^; Hope you have fun at the show~♪

More proof that Japan is just....better. :D

What's kind of funny though is that a few years ago, I was selling a ticket to a show and had that same problem, where I knew that the ticket wouldn't get there in time unless I sent it before I got the money, and so... I sent it off. ...Of course I never saw that money, but... Well, what did I expect, right, being... not Japan and all. :P :P

Of course you won't tired of being complimented on your Japanese, since yours is actually good. Compliments when all you can say is a good round of 分かりません and あっ、それはちょっと...are a bit unnerving, as if they're making fun of you (even when you know they aren't).

And I miss Japanese trustworthiness. They think (usually) that there's no way you could possibly cheat them. With that kind of trust, I do everything in my power to keep it. So sweet, isn't it?
