A&M Friday classes CANCELLED

An excerpt from an email from Dr. Robert Gates, President of Texas A&M University:

Classes will be cancelled on Friday and University offices will be
closed. We expect to re-open Monday morning, but staff and students
should check the University web-page for an update on this after 5
p.m., Sunday the 25th.

Our school closed at noon today becuase we're in Houston and Rita's expected to hit us. Dear gods, I'm SO scared! I'm from the desert, dude!! Never been in a hurricane and the area's going apeshit!

thanks for the offer, hun, but at the moment, College STation is on one of the main evacuation routes, meaning the freeway is a parking lot. We were gonna be heading to San Antonio, but are still in Houston, because I-10 is a parking lot. And there's no gas anywhere along the highways, either. Gas stations are empty and we're afriad we're gonna get caught on the side of the road with an empty tank and stuck in the path of Rita.

Right now, we're battening down the hatches and hoping for the best. Still scared, majorly anxious, but we're gonna see it through. If ya want, I'll email/IM to let you know I'm still alive. Talk to you laters.
