While sifting through old Japanese Myu reports for [livejournal.com profile] kooriyoukai, I happened upon a few from Dream Live 1st. I thought I'd read most everything DL1st reports had to offer me--I mean, with only two shows, how much could deviate from one to the next? And we had the evening performance on DVD already, what more was there?

Something quite big, apparently...and something I'm surprised I haven't heard about before o_O I know some of the older fans who were around back during DL1st's run must have gone to see it, but I'd never even heard a whiff of this. From this DL1st report, on the 11 AM performance.

We open on the photo scene, with Oishi and his aquarium.

Oishi Photo 1 - Looking at the aquarium he's so proud of
Photo 2 - He's found something, and makes a surprised face!

Others: "What're you so surprised at? What'd you find?"

Oishi: "Iya...I had found a little Tezuka."

Others: "Wha--a little Tezuka? So then, what happened?"

Photo 3 - *kissy face*

Others: "Why are you making a kissy face?!"

Oishi: "............." [is tapped on the shoulder by Buchou who'd been standing next to him]

*flails wildly* THERE WAS TEZUOISHI FANSERVICE IN THE BEST GP FANSERVICE MYU OF ALL? SAY IT AIN'T SO! ;_______; Okay, okay *deep breath* Ueshima obviously realized his error and didn't subject us to the filth (sorry TezuOishi shippers XD;;;;) for the DVD, so I can kind of sort of overlook it but WHY?

No, seriously, WHY?! o____o all the myus have been about GP fanservice (with a little Dream Pair on the side that I can overlook because skefuhw9r4fsdfl Nagayan and Kime were kind of sort of hot together), and EVERYTHING else seems to have been the same, including Eiji's picture corner with the parfaits and the "teeheez" moments and Oishi looking away, so WHY?

Oh Ueshima you CHEAP SELLOUT. You thought you could just put in all kinds of fanservice and EVERYONE would be happy? SCREW YOU. He KNEW which pairing the audience preferred, I mean, he'd had two--no, THREE musicals already to see that! So why cheapen it to make a few TezuOishi shippers happy? If I had been him, no matter my pairing preference, I think I would've gone for the one most of the fans preferred :/ Or was he testing the waters? To see if people didn't prefer that one over one of THE MOST CANON PAIRINGS IN THE FANDOM.

GEE I DUNNO.

And, see, that makes me think, too, how the actors themselves felt about it. I mean, Tuti's characters tend to mean a lot to him, and it's stupid to think that these guys didn't know about the pairings their characters were involved in. So if it's been pretty well established thus far that your character was going to be slashed with another in these musicals, and suddenly you're thrown this curveball, wouldn't that mean something to you?

Sometimes I think I look too much into stuff and I'm not the only one who does it XD;;;; but discussing stuff like this with my friends is a lot of fun, trying to get into the guys' minds and thought proccesses based on what we know so far. And looking at this, knowing how Tuti relates to his roles at times, I can't help but think he must've felt SOMETHING about such a random bit of fanservice thrown in.

Gah, I'm gonna go read some MTL reports to wash this image from my mind -_-;;;;

On another random note, someone PLEASE tell me what pairing "CP" stands for! IT'S BUGGING THE MESS OUT OF ME. It's a Seigaku pair, and not TakaFuji, MomoRyo, or InuKai. I found it a couple of times in these reports but can't tell from context what pairing it is XD;;;;

XD;;; Well I mean, from a financial standpoint, it'd seem smarter to play to your main audience... and I'm sorry to come off so vehement about a pairing I can't stand ♥ I don't hate the shippers XD

Yeah, no, I understand. But did they do this more than once? If they did it like, once or twice, would that really be that bad? ;>.> Oh, it's okay. I'm rather used to it, since TezuOishi is the pairing that fights two of the biggest OTPs in the fandom. ;>> And I still like GP; TezuOishi is just my preference.

Well, DL1st was only performed TWICE. Once in the morning (with the TezuOishi joke) and once that same evening (the DVD version, with the GP joke). So while it doesn't seem like that big a deal (and I admit, in the long run, it's NOT), it still seems to defy logic. It's like they were testing the waters to make sure the myus were erally supporting the most popular slash pairings. I mean, look at it like this--if a T/O slasher went to this showing, what good would it do? Would she run and hop online at a net cafe and tell all her slasher friends what wonderful fanservice DL1st had for their pairing? Maybe, but what good would it do? "MINNA MINNA! THERE WAS THE BEST FANSERVICE HERE! GO AND...UMM, NEVERMIND! YOU CAN'T BUY A TICKET BECAUSE THERE'S ONLY ONE SHOW LEFT OOPS."

Or if her friends got all excited, they'd be sorely disappointed if they had tickets to the evening show >_> It just seems like everyone lost out on it :/

Well, okay, yeah, that's different. I knew they had two performances of DL2, but didn't know it was the same for the first one. I wouldn't have expected them to have taken such a risk, either. o.o; TezuOishi, last time I checked, still has a rather small fandom in Japan, too (and certainly is beaten by GP ten times over as well).

Though they were also doing some experimenting with the MomoKai as well, it seems. DL1 and MTL had lots of it... so I guess they were trying to determine quite a bit with it.
