Yesterday was a day of awesome amounts of fun! First, it was a Saturday, which is awesome in and of itself XD; But I was spending it with a lovely group of ladies bumming around Ikebukuro/Shinjuku/Shibuya! Why? Because Thursday was
faded_lace's bday! So we took the opportunity to celebrate in style :D
We first met up in Ikebukuro. I had been having problems with my phone, so I took it to the AU store (where in classical Japanese fashion, they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it and just told me to come back again if it happens again >|), and after that I headed back to the station to meet up with everyone. However, I happened to notice this familiar store had just opened on the east side of the station!

Whaaaat??? I rarely see these outside of, like, airports! And I've never seen one outside of the US *____* I would've grabbed one of their delicious cinnamon pretzels or gotten a sesame one and some cheese dipping sauce, but the line was seriously long (probably an hour's wait at least) aaaaand I had people to meet up with!
Our group convened at ~1 PM, and we first had lunch at McDonald's (where I had a shakashaka chicken for the first time and it was tasty XD) and then hit up Animate (where I bought the Shitenhouji 5B DVD because I didn't own it and have recently realized Shitenhouji B owns my heart and soul) and K-books (where I didn't buy anything, but
faded_lace and
yomimashou bought Nagayan's On DVD + photobook set for 2100 yen @___@ crazy cheap.
After some crazy fun karaoke where strange salarymen loitered outside our door during TeniMyu ballads (...), we headed off to Shibuya to visit Gain! We'd initially only planned to go there so that Miranda et al. could bid Tenchou a fond farewell, since they're all headed back to the States in the next couple of weeks, but I realized a Gain shirt would make a good Christmas present for my little brother, since he likes Japanese retro t-shirts, so we wound up actually having a good reason to go and making Tenchou a richer man for it :P (buy your little girl some new shoes, Tenchou!)
After this, we bummed around Tokyu Hands for a little bit before having dinner at, of course, Coco's :D Then it was off to Shinjuku for our last stop of the evening!
...erm, feel free to stop reading here if you'd rather not see this post devolve into shameless displays of Tuti/Nagayan fangirling :D Because shit's about to get real :D
Ever since this incident, we'd toyed with the idea of going to that same bar and taking advantage of the fun little "free drink on your birthday" thingee they seemed to be having while at the same time going someplace Tuti, Nagayan, and Tatsuya had all been at only a few weeks prior, so we decided, what the hell! Let's go! And go we did XD
The place, Bar Accueil, was incredibly easy to find, being a virtual straight shot from Shinjuku's West Exit and with very clear signage:

You can't really see it, but the red sign at the bottom was advertising an Indian restaurant, and we joked that as soon as Nagayan saw that, he probably thought that's where he was being taken and went, "Oh my god -_-;;"
We piled into the very very very tiny elevator (we were kind of cramped with three people XD;;) and went up to the sixth floor...and then our jaws kind of dropped. I have no pics of the inside myself, but wow, guys. Wow. Tuti immediately got, like, 3 billion "awesome boyfriend" points in that instant.
This place was classy. We kind of almost hesitated going in even XD;;; Given that it cost you 400 yen just to sit down, it may have been better if we hadn't gone in, for our wallets at least XD; And it was SO SO TINY. There were three tables: two small ones set against a bench (this was where Tuti, Nagayan, and Tatsuya had sat), and one free table in the center of the floor around which a group of older guys were chatting. There was also a tiny little booth for two set into the wall in the corner that was super private and intimate (......fiiiiic you are happening), and then there were about 6 or 7 seats at the bar itself. It was pretty much Gain, bar style.
But even with how tiny it was, it didn't make it feel at all like it was some hole-in-the-wall place by any means. It was here that we agreed if Nagayan had seen it, his reaction would have instantly gone to, "Oh my god *____*" It was just a REALLY nice bar XD; (and made us wonder how the heck Tuti knew it)
The only people working there were a man and woman tending bar and tending the customers. They were both young and attractive and definitely knew what they were doing, and everyone seemed really amused with the group of 4 white chicks who had wandered in XD The old dudes chatting around their table even stopped to stare, and one called out, "Hi!" XD;; I didn't find it creepy so much as...kind of cute in a grandpa-ish way XD;
We ordered some drinks--I got something non-alcoholic because I had no CLUE what I should get; but it wound up being AMAZINGLY delicious, since I asked them for their recommendation. We mentioned it was Miranda's birthday a few days before, and so she got a lovely drink made with strawberries that really didn't look like it had anything to do with December's birthstone at all (while sources vary, all agree it's a blue stone XD) but still tasted really good :D We also had some chocolate chunks and were given free crackers with apple jam.
While the entire experience was a real punch to the wallet (it came out to 7100 yen total for 3 very small drinks + 2 little plates of 3 or 4 chunks of chocolate XD;;) it was definitely worth it to go through, especially to be in the same place and experience the same atmosphere the guys had only a couple of weeks before :3 It gave you an insider's view of what it must've been like, and that was worth 7100 yen ;) Plus, well, it was really nice being in such a classy place XDDD
After the bar experience, we wandered over to see the lights on Shinjuku Southern Terrace, outside the South Exit, and got some pretty pics:

They even had little decorations with the Suica penguin! ADORABLE XD

The highlight, though, was of course the Christmas Tree structure where you go in, place your hand on a sensor, and it tells your fortune. It's popular to go as a couple, too ;) How conveniently near Bar Accueil!

I had checked it out last year here, but the meanings changed! Like, yellow was "a happy future" this year, and green was, "a wealthy future." Booo!
We parted ways after this at Shinjuku station, but not before spotting a familiar face in a poster for Tempest that was randomly up in the station XD

Tacchaaaaan! (in the yellow, if you can't tell XD) Unfortunately Eiji has a teeny tiny part so he's not on the poster, sorry XD;;; I wonder if they'll actually look remotely like this in the show? They typically don't, and while I love Tacchan, I don't love that costume and crazy hat XD;;;
All in all, it was an awesomely fun day :D Next week is my last week of plays this year, and it's really really sad ;__; I don't want this year to end! It's been just...amazing. If I could relive 2010 over again, I 100000% would in a hearbeat. BuriMyu's amazing finale, Dream Live 7th being more than I could've ever dreamed, ShibaTora2, MahaMo coming out on DVD, Western Mode, Blood Prisoner, Hard to Hold saien that hasn't even started yet and I already KNOW will be awesome. GUH. How can 2011 compare? idk, but I'm hoping it does!

Date: 2010-12-05 03:57 am (UTC)We need to go to that bar again, though. I bet there aren't that many bartenders, and since we've been once, we're cool kids who can act confident now. XD;; And if we both just got drinks... it'd e worth it to plunk down another 3000yen for the experience. XD;;;
Also, you forgot to mention ME in the list of awesome things that happened to you in 2010! Geez!

Date: 2010-12-05 07:35 pm (UTC)That bar though, wow. *__* I feel like it's a similar sort of thing to the gelato place, almost, you know? Like...you can't really imagine what those tiny unique little places are like unless you actually SIT in them, you know? I'm kind of shocked that it was so expensive though. O_O But... Yeah, it's awesome that you guys went and experienced that first hand. *____*
AND TACCHAN. XD WTF version of the Tempest is that, anyway? It looks so... IDEK... Chinese? O_o Anyway. :P
And I love those festive lights, GUH. *_*
