Fic rec!

Mmk, if any of you have read Havemercy (or more importantly, the sequel Shadow Magic), it is absolutely imperative you read this fic, as it is a lovely little Alcibiades/Caius get-together, and who doesn't love those??

And if you haven't read Havemercy and Shadow Magic, WHY NOT? Not only excellent, fun fantasy plot, it's got slashy menfolk galore and dragons and magic and one major couple who actually gets together and is adorable and sidufhslidf :3 I highly recommend it (coming from someone who typically doesn't really enjoy fantasy/magic books), if only so you can adore that fic I linked above. The fic author did an AMAZING job of capturing their characterizations and thought patterns 100%, so it's like getting to read a little omake to the books~ :DDDD

I've been looking for good fantasy! Thanks for the rec! Checked it out on amazon and was sold.

If you liked them, you should check out "Scarlet and the White Wolf," first in a trilogy by Kirby Crow, or the Nightrunner series by Lynn Flewelling. The first of that is "Luck in the Shadows." EXCELLENT series. Both of them. :D

Haha XD Great minds think alike -- I've already read all of the Nightrunner series books available and already have the next one on preorder :D (though I have to admit, my interest and satisfaction has been waning since the most recent one. Slave/master stories and such aren't my cuppa...)

I'll have to check out the other one--haven't heard of it!

Okay, as MUCH OF A GEEK AS I AM FOR THIS SERIES, I never read fanfic for it. That was pretty amazing, XD I very rarely find something smutty that I find funny... thanks for the fic rec. :D

LOL Enjoy! I thought all three books were just awesome and also plowed through them. Will be waiting for the review! :D

As for Nightrunner, LOL. Great minds do think alike! I've been reading the excerpts for White Road on Lynn's LJ otterdance and I CANNOT. WAIT. I just wish I could go on the writing cruise she's hosting in May when the book comes out. Alas, I'm still teaching and it's a week long. D:

Ditto! I thought the author made excellent work of combining hilarity with tasteful smut (I actually really enjoyed Caius' thoughts on the whole affair XD like, "Oh. Oh dear. Well that's nice. I quite enjoyed--oh my.")

You're quite welcome for it, too :D I adore those two (and really want to see some good fic of any sort for Kouje and Mamoru!) and think overall, while I adore Hal and Royston and Thom and Rook, I enjoyed the cast of Shadow Magic more :3

duuuuude! I was totally reading this before popping on the flist! It makes me all sorts of happy and wishing that SOMETHING happened between the two in the book. But I do still love their friendship and Caius' meddling. :D

I can't wait for the third book. If I can use my book-luck, it'll be Roy/Hal and Al/Caius. And I'll be a happy camper. ^^

"I have never compared myself to cuisine before" really made me laugh, XD But his comments made the whole thing.

You know, I liked Havemercy more because I hadn't read a book since the first time I read the Harry Potter books through where I was completely immersed in a book. I mean, I was impossible to talk to for a while while I was reading it-- I was doing play rehearsals at the time and they could only get me to put the thing done to say my damn lines. I adore both of them though. Just, when you get to the photo-finish of the race for my favorite books, Havemercy has about a breadth of a hair space ahead of Shadow Magic... Also, Royston is my favorite character, and the book was lacking in his presence. He's there, but not enough. If there was a book with both sets of cast members all the time, I would be the happiest little geek ever.

Craaap, I'm behind! D: I still haven't read Shadow Magic! :X Bought my own copy of Havemercy, though. That's high on my list of priorities this semester! :D
