First off, A WILD DVD HAS ARRIVED ON MY DOORSTEP. It was like God WANTED me to have this. I got to my apartment mailbox at 5:55 and found an undeliverable item receipt (I have to ask to get my package back by 6 PM to get it that same day, otherwise I'll have to wait til the next day). I was about to run upstairs, when at that exact moment a Sagawa guy pulls up in his van and asks if I'm Courtney. I say yes, and he hands me a package. FROM *PNISH*. HALLELUJAH SLDIFUHSDLIFUHSDIFUS

Question: How the hell did they know to deliver it to my new address (because it didn't go to Shiga, it came straight here, and the address was handwritten like all the stuff I get from them, seeming to indicate that this wasn't a "went to the post office and was sent back" kind of thing...)? I ordered some new stuff from them, and I changed my address for the DM stuff, so maybe through that? Whatever, THANKS GUYS!

Unfortunately, on opening it I realized...it was not Reverse Historica as I had hoped.

It's REBIRTH HISTORICA.

CRAP. FUCKING JAPANESE ARGH. REVERSE MADE SENSE. YOU CAN'T BLAME ME. DON'T JUDGE, DON'T JUDGE. NOT. MY. FAULT. I only realized this grave mistake when I popped in the DVD and the "name" showed up on the drive.

Me: (talking to KY on the phone) "Huh...that's weird..."
[livejournal.com profile] hitome_bore: "What's wrong?"
Me: "It has the name of the DVD as Rebirth...HOLY SHIT."
[livejournal.com profile] hitome_bore: "o_O WHAT?"
Me: "DDDDDD:"

Backstage at rehearsals, Eiji assumes the position...

SMACK!

...mission: accomplished. (for the curious, this was not some kinky game unfortunately--Daiki's character smacks Eiji's on the ass with a fan in the play, I guess they just felt the need to practice this...twice.)

Eiji cheerily tells the camera that it's opening day, and they're gonna have a great show! The cast is awesome, everyone's really close and fun to be around, except for one guy...

Who could it be?

Gaku: ">_> ...you're talking about me, aren't you?"
Eiji: *innocent*

Yasuka is such a girl XD;;;

D'awwwww TECCHAN. YOU ARE NOT 30, I REFUSE TO BELIEVE IT. (seriously, he's like...29 I think?)

Between the matinee and soiree shows, Eiji sleeps...and is stalked...

*Jaws theme plays*

Eiji: "Mooouuuu stop sneaking up on me..."
Daiki (holding camera):*DEAD FROM LAFFING HEHEHEHE*

Time to go annoy other people!
Daiki: "Geez what happened to your face..."
Gaku: "DDD: STFU IT'S MAKEUP"

*Jaws theme plays again..."

Eiji: "D: I said stop sneaking up on me mooouuuuu..."

Eiji: *turns away*
Me: "sdlifusdhlfisdhflisudfs 8DDDDD NEWLYWEDS AGAIN."

Daiki was obviously very, very bored XDDDD He should be bored more often >_>

Katou Ryousuke is cute while brushing is teeth <33333

Besshi and Tecchan at senshuuraku, I love their little conbi *____*

Daiki cannot contain himself when Eiji acts stupid XDDDD

orz
(special note: BUTTGRAB! Seriously Eiji, his back would've been fine...)

8DDD

After the show, the happy coupleguys say goodbye to the camera~

And then are gay.

*FLAILS INCOHERENTLY*

As for the DVD itself--it's ripping right now and should be done by tomorrow morning. The backstage was fairly short (about 15 minutes long), so I've already ripped that and uploaded it for you people viewing my LJ HERE!

I'll make a post to [livejournal.com profile] pnish when it's all done, but if you want to refresh your memory as to just what the hell this play's about, read the super-long-really-detailed review HERE! Enjoy!!

Also included in the DVD was a postcard with a shot of the entire cast in costume on stage and a big pullout pamphlet with pictures of everyone as well as a loooong interview between all four *pnish* members *____* THIS was what we had to wait an extra two months for _o_ But it was worth it, I guess! Will be reading that shortly ^_~

It's Aoyama Round Theater--was my first time being in something like that (incidentally, the first Switch was also performed there IIRC *nods*), very cool theater, as there are pretty much NO bad seats *___*

*laughs* I don't understand this (so was it or wasn't it something you ordered?)... it sounds like they just sent random things to their fans?

Haha, yup--it was the DVD of a play I saw back in April called "リバースヒストリカ"--I thought all this time it was called "reverse historica" but according to the DVD name that displays on my computer, it's "rebirth historica".

Are you much into Japanese history? If you are, you'd really like this--it's kind of a retelling of Honnouji no Hen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incident_at_Honn%C5%8D-ji) with a bunch of college guys making a movie about the event and winding up possessed by the spirits of a bunch of famous Japanese samurai. Really funny, but a lot of action too :)

Is it actually historically accurate/will I learn something _useful_, or is it entertainment only? ^_^ (As in, can I take this as the gospel truth?)

Date: 2008-10-03 01:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] fencer-x.livejournal.com
All of the historical figures from the original event are in there (the full list is here (http://community.livejournal.com/pnish/126204.html)) with the same relationships.

Almost every schoolchild here must know about this event for them to make a play out of it that doesn't explain the event at all really, and I had to do a little bit of research before going or I KNOW I would've been lost :P

With that said, while it has all the same figures and works on a historically accurate base, it implies that what is written in history books didn't really happen that way, and throughout the show tells of a different side (ulterior motive on some figures' parts) of the event.

In other words, you'd want to be at least passingly familiar with Honnouji no Hen first and at least know who was friends with whom, who was an enemy of whom, before watching (something the Japanese audience was already familiar with).

I actually learned a lot through this--enough to outsmart my own students playing a game in class when I knew the answer to a question a short while after seeing this play (it was something like, "What was the name of the incident where Oda Nobunaga committed suicide?" XD)

Overall, it's a play--of course it's for entertainment primarily, but it assumes the audience already knows the basics, and builds off of that to create dramatic tension that counterbalances the comedy and action.

All *pnish* plays are this way--this one just happened to be based on a real historical event :)

XD Wow. Damn, I can't follow that, and I'm not sure I have the inclination/time for the moment. But since it's supposed to be educational, try and ambush me about this again in the future, and I won't mind watching it _with_ you so you can explain things. ^_^

It does take more work than you should have to give to enjoy a play, especially considering that it's all in Japanese XD;;;

But definitely, we should set aside a couple of hours some weekend in the future and give it a go ^__^ It's really very funny, as *pnish* plays usually are, easy to follow, and hey--I learned something! ^_^

Finally *___* Thank you so much for uploading it ♥

I'm offended - 5 months wait and only 13 minutes of backstage?! But still awesome 30 minutes *___* I loved every kind of interaction between Eiji and Daiki, Leader was sooo cute when he poked Eiji while he was sleeping ^__~ And ass grabing ftw *___* The cuttest thing for me though was them wishing goodbye at the end *__* Just so perfect and cute together and GUH!!! ♥

And this was like the last time seeing Besshi with them O.o He looked so cute and I felt really sad that it was so ;(;(;(
