I'm in an icon-making mood, but I'm at work :(

Today's started off being a weird day.

I was bored on the train to work, so I started reading this book given to me by the nice Jehovah's Witness lady. She came by again last Saturday, and we talked at my door for something like 20 min (wtf) about random stuff we believe and all. I'm not sure why she's still coming around wanting to talk about God when I've made it clear on two occasions now that she's preaching to the converted already :P Shouldn't she be, you know, going around knocking on the doors of people who AREN'T already Christians?

Anyways.

She handed me a book (one of those books it looks like you give to the non-converted, to explain about God and the Bible and how to be saved, blahblahblah), and I politely took it. She asked if she could come back next weekend to talk more about it, and of course I folded and said sure. Since I figured it'd be rude not to at least flip through it, and because I was bored on the train, I did.

Hoooooly crap. Literally.

Most of it was blahblahblah hello stuff I learned in Sunday School when I was FIVE. But some points...

Like how it is a grave sin for Christians to receive blood transfusions.

And how it is a grave sin to CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS (because it's based on a Pagan holiday dontcha know! And that means EVERYTHING associated with it now is TAINTED!!!!!!111! Nothing good can ever come from "bad"! EVARRRR!!).

And how it is the End Times now (and they literally mean, like, NOW.) because there are wars and famine and plagues and evil people! THERE HAVE NEVER BEEN ANY OF THESE BEFORE IN HISTORY, SO THE END OF THE WORLD MUST BE NEAR!!

Oooohhhh good lord woman better not wanna talk about any of that stuff. Because she's really nice and I'll feel really bad pulling a, "Are you HIGH? You do realize that the Bible was written 2000+ years ago and THERE'S A LOT OF STUFF IN IT WE DON'T DO ANYMORE. Because, you know, it's stupid and not appropriate now."

I dunno about you, but I still support stoning adulterers :D

tl;dr - JW Lady and I are gonna have an interesting conversation next week. I'm a Christian and she's a Christian, but no two are alike. Gotta love religion.

Today's the start of the second round of Jump presales. I'm dumping my hagaki from the first round in the mail today, and picking up another copy of Jump to try for even more *____* Results will come out mid-October, well before general sales, so...*crosses fingers*

Speaking of tickets, MahaMo general sales are this weekend >___> I'm already trying for a few in the lottery, results for which get announced Wednesday, so we'll see how that goes!

I love Jehovah Witnesses. I take their Watchtower and Awake booklets every time I see them. I know there's something bad in feeling morally superior to another group, but hot damn, I feel it! My best friend in high school was a Witness, so I've been to Kingdom Halls and read lots of literature. By the way, don't ever go to a Kingdom Hall. I mean, it's one thing to read about it in their books and go, "Bwah?" But it's another thing when you're sitting in the place and they're calling you WRONG because of your pagan ways and your non-believe in the Chosen 144,000. Not to mention small things, like taking Communion more than once a year. I think that Christian groups should try to stick together, but dang.

I think she still talks to you because she's found a Believer, and there are so few of us Christians in Japan in the first place. Just don't let her talk you into going to a Kingdom Hall. Although I wonder what the Japanese version would be like...

That said, I was also reading a bit of literature from the Japanese Christian Fellowship, and talk about harsh! All non-believers are condemned to a life of misery followed by HELL. Whoa, I thought we left the fire-and-brimstone messages back in the 1800s, what.

Christmas is not BASED on a Pagan holiday, it is simply celebrated ON a Pagan holiday because at the time Christians were being KILLED for their beliefs and so they had to be secretive. If anything, it should be celebrated as a reminder to those difficult times and in rememberence of those that were killed.

Jesus Christ, people. Actually learn some history, even if the Earth is only 5000 years old or whatever.

All those Tokyo shows are going to be suuuuuper hard to get XD; I'll see what I can do though ^^; Osaka may be difficult, but probably easier since it's a Monday and not a holiday...and, well, Osaka :P Tokyo SSR is ALSO a monday and not a holiday, but it's the LAST one.

BTW I shipped out your FilmFes DVD FINALLY XD; I'll invoice you for the *pnish* stuff soonish, too.
