I'm editing a paper right now about the use of a new statistical method to identify possibly fabricated data or other implausible data.

A simple search for a term actually showed that the author lifted, almost word for word, his entire introduction from a previously published paper, moving only a few words around and occasionally using synonyms to cover his tracks.

What is the Japanese word for "irony"? :P
