...yeah? XD; lots of people in both parties got annoyed/angry (depending on who you asked) at Wanda's speech, since it was...well, a rather frank comedienne's speech. What were they expecting?? XD That's like asking Dave Chapelle to do the invocation, wtf. OTOH I'd be more than a little miffed if someone was making fun of my father, too, no matter how much he deserved it or how much it was in jest *shrug*

It's why I said I hope she's the FUTURE of the party, not that I want her going around delivering stump speeches right now ;) If she even goes into politics (she's my age right now, 24, far from shooting much higher than getting her face out there) AND if she sticks by her beliefs right now and doesn't become a Democrat (a pro-sex pro-life pro-gay marriage woman is about as Republican as you can get without being a Democrat, and that's pushing it waaaaaay moderate [not that I have any problem with that, since I consider myself quite a moderate Republican]) she can finally help pull the party out of the fucking dark ages and make it a fair fight again :/ I can't say I agree with everything she believes in (who can ever hope for a candidate like that, really, unless they themselves run?) but she's taking a step in the right direction as far as that party goes...

I felt bad the second I posted that, especially because I hadn't seen her speak on the Colbert report and I was taking out my grumpy monday morning on you (I'm sorry Court!! orz). 8D' I was more taken aback by the 'Do you know who I am?' but I can absolutely see the point that some new life is what that party needs.
Here, too, politics has swayed faaar to the right and that isn't how it always used to be.

Aww, you know ilsm lil ♥ It'll take more than a link to Wanda Sykes (who I definitely like XD) to drive a wedge between the two of us :D

She's a comfortably-sized blonde republican (zomg we are TWINS) with values that, on the surface at least, mirror my own. I just wanted to share that ;D

Gooooodddddd the Republicans need to pull their heads out of their asses, or hurry up and let the old guard die off so the new, more moderate folks can actually focus on the stuff that the party REALLY stands for and not "DAYUM HOMO SEXICALS IS WANTIN' RIGHTS NOW. AWWWW HELL NAW." It's gonna happen whether they like it or not, I just wish it'd hurry upppppp arrgh.

Aww, thanks court. <3 I've been such a big jerk this week and taking it out on everyone for no reason, it's not funny. :(
I hear more states are slowly recognizing same sex marriage? I think they must recognize it's a losing battle and hopefully will focus on something else. Wasn't there some skit that proved that legalising gay marriage would save the economy due to all the fabulous weddings? :D

Two cents/info:

Save for Iowa, the push for legalizing gay marriage has been centered in the Northeastern States: Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticutt, and Maine. New York is considering it as well, but nothing beyond the Northeast as of yet. I don't see the federal government getting involved unless an ultraconservative (of the religious breed) comes along and says "OH HELLZ NO W3Z DON'T WAN NO GAYZ MARRYING SHITZ!" and have a constitutional amendment.

Or... somethings...

End two cents/info.

I gotta watch that. I love the Colbert Report. I've read some of Meghan's articles, and she seems like a level-headed chick.

I advise it; you can find the clip on colbertnation.com, I believe. I'm not going to run around slapping bumper stickers on my bike now saying "McCain Jr. 2012!" or whatever, seeing as I know next to nothing about her save reading a few of her articles and seeing her interview last night, but she's definitely caught my interest and was saying everything I wanted to hear.

Candidate or not, she could prove a valuable asset to the GOP for reeling in the young voters disenchanted with the party by showing you can be a social liberal but still very much a Republican.
