It's looking like it's going to be a while before I have net, thanks to the AWESOME INFORMATION from my new landlords >_> They're nice and all, but boy are they unorganized and really ticking me off >_> >_> >_> I was supposed to be THRILLED to be moving to Tokyo, not sitting here really wanting to just go home two days in. But that I'll talk about later. Anyways, the problem was that they never said anywhere that internet wasn't already hooked up to the apartment (especially since it was one of the things they specified in their ads--that each apartment had net hookups), so me, thinking I'd have net when I got here, CANCELLED MY YAHOO BB ACCOUNT IN HIKONE. I could've just CHANGED THE ADDRESS. Any idea how easy that'd be? WAY EASY. I'd be on the net right now and maaaaaan am I pissed I'm not.
Let's recap, though. July 26th early in the morning, I packed up everything I had left that I was carrying with me (and boy was it still a lot >_> I actually had to stop at kuroneko again and have them take another box for me), and met up with
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
It was the first time I had ever gone to the apartment myself (and only my second time to go there EVER), but I actually found it no problem, and saw all the little things I'd not noticed last time--a big grocery/odds-and-ends store near my place, a gyoza place, a Lawsons and 7-11 literally RIGHT around the corner from my apartment, tons of vending machines including one with--HALLELUJAH, DR. PEPPER. I got all my stuff into my apartment, turned the AC on full blast, and looked over my place some more.
About an hour later, all my boxes arrived, but I couldn't really unpack much because...well, I have no furniture >_> I can't unpack clothes without drawers or hangers. I can't unpack books or DVDs without shelves of some sort, but at least I had a "bed" XD;;;; I'll be sleeping on the floor for a while yet -_- Tomorrow I plan on taking my day off to get things set up and email Amazon right away to bring me some furniture, because this place will not feel like home until I can get all my stuff out of the boxes and surrounding me. And I need that now.
I then proceeded to embarrass myself ROYALLY at the Lawsons when I went down to get lunch. I needed some basic necessities immediately: toilet paper and garbage bags, since the apartment had neither. I found the toilet paper just fine, but the garbage bags I couldn't seem to locate. I went to check out, and when I handed the guy (probably late 40s, 50s) my stuff, I asked him where the garbage bags were. He asked me what kind of garbage bags (I later realized he meant which size), and I explained I needed ones for burnables and non-burnables. In Hikone, let me explain, they sold these garbage bags in convenience stores--they were color-coded and had writing on them to tell you what was supposed to go in them, not that anything HAD to go in there, it just made it easier to keep them separated so you didn't accidentally put out your non-burnables when you meant to put out your burnables and all. So, I asked the nice man for the bags.
And he looked at me like I'd just spoken Greek and not perfectly fine, intelligible Japanese. I repeated myself several times, and each successive time he just got more and more confused. I explained (read: TRIED to explain) that I just needed some garbage bags, and he told me they had garbage bags, but that what I was looking for didn't exist in all of Japan. Not that he'd just "never seen those," or that they, "didn't carry them," but that they DID NOT EXIST. ANYWHERE IN JAPAN. His exact words.
The hell, old man. I tried to explain to him that yes, there did exist bags with the words "moeru gomi" and "moenai gomi" written on them, to help separate the garbage, because I'd been using them for a year in Shiga prefecture, and he just looked at me like I'd told him his mother was a whore or something. In the end, I just asked him to show me where the garbage bags were, and bought a set--turns out Tokyo doesn't have special bags for burnables/non-burnables, you just put in them whatever you want and keep them separate on your own. Shiga spoiled me by telling me what was in what.
I think where our miscommunication came in was that he thought I meant bags SPECIFICALLY and ONLY for burnables, that if you put non-burnables in the wrong bag it wouldn't be disposed of properly, which wasn't what I said, but whatever, crazy old guy. He kind of laughed me off, though, and told me Japan was crazy when it came to recycling, and that he felt sorry for me having to put up with it <--best thing I'd heard in ages. He also told me he'd be sure to tell me other things too if I needed any help. No thanks, sir.
After that, I went to Tsukiji and got myself and

Now, picture this, if you will. A large Buddhist temple. Kind of like this:
Now make that show they're all about to see be based on an X-rated homosexual dating sim. And you have my adventure at the Gakuen Heaven musical.
Yes, it was someone's BRILLIANT idea to bring all that to the temple grounds, and then have one of the cast be a 10 year old who would, of course, want to invite his friends as guests so that there were about 10 kids there. This is like, I dunno, having a Brokeback musical in a cathedral in ROME. And then inviting your 8-year-old next-door-neighbor to come see it with you.
That being said, it was still AWESOME. Awesomely bad, really XD It was cute, definitely, but boy was it cheesy at times XD;;; All the dialogue that sounded so loving and wibble-inducing in the anime sounded just...so...WHAT on stage XD It followed the anime storyline to about halfway through, if you've seen the show. I'd been wondering if they'd follow the anime storyline, or recap what had happened and make it something completely different and new, or what. I was very VERY glad to see they kept with the anime storyline *____*
If you're not familiar with the show, Gakuen Heaven is based on a BL dating sim, with very graphic endings where your main uke (the player, you) can wind up with one of something like 8 or 9 other hot guys. It was made into an anime a couple of years back which actually paired the main character Keita up with ONE guy (the guy it seemed he was, well, SUPPOSED to end up with, thank goodness), and then went and paired all the OTHER guys up with each other, giving you 4 or 5 "established"/canon couples. Some of them were just implied and fanservicey, but others were pretty clearly supposed to be together (Kaworu and Omi for instance XD). It ran for 13 episodes to a fluffy happy ending, where the main couple actually get together and have a kiss at the end.
Oh my god I just killed two huge roaches (random note while I'm typing). I think they were two. I caught one and flushed him down the toilet. Then I saw another 10 minutes later, looking pretty beat up. Maybe the first just got out of the toilet? I had to flush a few times, he wouldn't stay down... Note to self: BUY ROACH SPRAY. Because smushing is messy.
But back to the gay now--so YES. I love Gakuen Heaven, because it actually takes a dating sim which could've made it a nice harem BLesque show where no one gets together in the end and made it a beautiful gay love story where you really got attached to the characters, where it WASN'T a typical seme/uke relationship, and that had really REALLY nice art, too >_> If you haven't seen it--DO SO.
I was really curious how the musical would go, then, knowing the source material--would they keep the couples? Would they make Keita fair uke game? Would there be kissing? Would it just be something stupid and random and have fanservice everywhere and no good solid coupling?
It could've been really bad--but instead, it was actually really cute ;_; THANK YOU, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I bought a pamphlet, which came in a pretty little bag, and Kazuki and Keita's photosets (though holy CRAP would Kawakubo dance *_______* I kinda regret not getting his!) and also available were assorted LARGE photos for 1500yen each (the 4-photo photosets are usually 600yen for 4 small pics), and I bought these two:
(ignore the weird perspective, it's cause of how I was holding it when I took the pic) Kazuki holding Keita~
Omi and Kaworu~
In addition to the fanservice in the photosets, the couples were typically together on stage as well--and BOY HOWDY did they play up Kazuki/Keita (which makes sense, since it's the main couple XD)--there were tons of moments when Kazuki would just hold Keita's hand, or hug him to his chest, or from behind, and at one point they were sitting on some steps, and Keita was hot and red-faced from running around, and Kazuki wondered if he had a fever, so he touched their foreheads together and just kinda...stayed that way for a while 8D;;;
At the very end, Keita's just been fretting all night wanting to talk to Kazuki because he's been told he has to drop out (so this is about halfway through the show), and when Kazuki finally shows up, Keita throws a fit and starts crying saying he was worried and wanted to talk to Kazuki, and Kazuki apologizes over and over and holds him close and strokes his back and sdlifushdilufhslidufhsldf and then of course Kazuki realizes how he feels, and Keita does too, and they look into each other's eyes and lean in and are JUST about to kiss when there's a knock on the door and all the others come in to tell Keita they're going to help him stay at Bell Liberty.
So, in summation, the music was catchy (there were 3 songs total, but they were good! And the guys were pretty decent singers! Though for some weird reason there was a SOUNDTRACK--like, in the middle of scenes there'd be music playing, and the mics weren't up loud so it was hard to hear o_O), the fanservice appropriate and not overdone, and the show quite enjoyable. I wish I could see it more!
It was only an hour long, REALLY flew by, but it was still a definite must-see XD Don't know if it'll be out on DVD, but I didn't see any cameras any time I went, sooooo :/ I'll scan in these big pics later, too~
The next day, after a Japanese friend of mine had seen the show, too, we met up for dinner--and then decided we needed to recast the show with Myu guys :DDDDDD INTRODUCING THE NEW AND IMPROVED GHMYU CAST......
Keita - Tacchan
Kazuki - TakiYuki
Nakajima - Kite's actor (Luke C?)
Niwa - Forgot~
Saionji - Kime/Aiba
Omi - Saitou
Taki - Setomaru/Kawakubo
Naruse - I forget XD;;;
August 2nd - After managing to survive my first week of work (I kid, I like it XD) I rewarded myself with a much needed break: I went to see the new TeniMyu!! (which was the Seigaku vs. Hyoutei nationals match: Oshitari/Momo, Gakuto+Hiyoshi/Inui+Kaidoh, Kabaji/Tezuka, Silver Pair/Golden Pair, and Atobe/Echizen, for those of us just joining the arc :P) Saturday, and was...a little worried, and a little excited, mostly because I'd had such a horrible time at DL5th and was kind of wary of being disappointed again.
But I told myself it was a new show, new songs and everything, plus a new cast (including my baby Tsujimoto from Secret Box) and my lovely Hyoutei boys including RUITO. And I had a 2nd row seat, so...uh, duh, I went XD
In short: the show made up in the first five minutes EVERYTHING DL5th had destroyed about TeniMyu for me ;_; LOVE LOVE LOVE. Ruito getting the very first line and being as bouncy and bitchy as Gakuto ever was, yesssss. The new Atobe looked and sounded so much like Kazuki it was FRIGHTENING. Not quiiiiiite as good a singer as Kazuki, but damn accomplished in his own right! The new Oshitari was....well, he needs some work XD He has very sexy, deep-voiced shoes to feel, and will take some time. But not bad!
In fact, there were NO bad singers *____* in the whole lot! Seigaku OR Hyoutei! This was very very good XD The new songs were awesome, too, very dark for Hyoutei, very catchy, I'm looking forward to the soundtrack already XD
But the very best part of the show, HANDS DOWN, was the new Golden Pair.
Now, I'd been a little wary. I was less than thrilled with 4th cast's GP, and though TakiYuki and Setomaru had been awesome as their individual characters, I still hadn't felt much spark from them as a pair, yanno? And on top of that, the TeniMyu diaries had even expressed concern, saying that the new GP had a long way to go and a lot to work on >_> Then Tuti posted about going to see the dress rehearsal and saying Tsujimoto did a good job as Oishi, and...well, I felt better, but needed to see for myself.
These guys? I dunno if they were directed to act the way they did, or if they just worked that damn hard or what, but...WOW. WOOOOOW. They were...the very best Golden Pair I've seen since Tuti and Nagayan, hands down. And even taking Tuti and Nagayan into account--these two were the CUTEST (sappiest, flirtiest, stomach-turning-fluffiest) GP YET. YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW ADORABLE THEY WERE UNTIL YOU SEE THEM. Which, you won't see them :( Because they won't be on the DVD--the DVD will be 4th Cast and Hyoutei A (old Hyoutei)
They were CONSTANTLY, even on the sidelines, leaning over and talking to one another, giggling, pushing each other, messing with the other's hair or jacket or something, and getting weird looks from their
teammates, it was embarrassing really XD
In the scene right before intermission, we see Oishi outside practicing in the rain--and what was really cool here was that they actually had Tsujimoto standing there with REAL WATER COMING DOWN AND FALLING ON HIM (I guess they had him standing on some mat or something to catch the runoff?), and you could see his shirt sticking to his body and everything while he practiced, and then Eiji comes up behind him and offers to practice together. Very very niiiiiiice.
During the SP/GP match, there's this one little point, too, where GP is losing a little, and kind of cheer each other own, and then just kind of stand really close to one another staring at each other for a minute not saying anything, just smiling nervously, then Eiji reaches forward and kind of pushes Oishi's shoulder, who giggles like a schoolgirl with a crush and pushes Eiji back, and then more giggling and staring into each other's eyes is had. All this happens while Silver Pair looks on and makes the comment, "...wtf are they doing?" The audience was DYING, because the focus was obviously supposed to be on how utterly gay and married GP were acting.
Then, of course...Synchronization. This was something else I was a little worried about: how would they handle it? Just some lights and sound effects? Would it even be that big a deal? Well, it seems I worried for nothing.
Because it got its own fucking SONG. And the chorus? "What the hell is that? It's Synchronization!" <--shit you not XDDDD They repeat this over and over while the GP is doing their thing and being AWESOME AT IT. The dance movements were amazing, just...wow, they put TxN to SHAME in being in synch. There was even one point where they were twirling their rackets and the RACKETS THEMSELVES twirled in synch. HOW THE HELL DO YOU DO THAT??
I sat there watching all that with my mouth just hanging open, it was AMAAAAAAZING. I'm going to try and go again at least once more while they're still in Tokyo, and then I DEFINITELY want to see the show again when it comes back from overseas, cause I wanna see Saitou as Oshitari, since he gets this sexy solo *____*
So, yes, because of this I'm going to see them again next Wednesday, and if I can help it, again after that XD I'm weighing even going to see the final Tokyo shows, even with Saitou and Ruito, because I don't want 4th cast GP shattering this amazing image I have now of SynchroMyu *_______*
August 3rd - We had a mission: that mission? To go horseback riding like *pnish*. And that meant not just going horseback riding in general, but to go where *pnish* went, at Creer Horse Trekking Farm at Miura Beach. So with a little research and a lot of looking around online, we were scheduled to be at the farm at 8:30 AM Sunday morning.
My shot of the place. And now...
...a screencap from the NaiPani DVD of the same place :D
Soba place next to the station.
Aaaaaand Tuti eating at that place :D (Wasshi and Eiji and Daiki all looked like they got stuff from this tempura place next to it -- you can see a little of it in my pic above)
The arrow points to the taxi stand where we hopped a taxi cause we were too tired to walk XD;;;
The three of us inside waiting to get our gear on (me in the front, Cinnamon behind me, and Beri in the back)
Daiki's standing in front of the bench we're all sitting on. The lady the arrow's pointing at helped us get all our gear on XD
Table outside the main house (with guide Yoshimura-san in the background--he helped us out just like he did the guys XD)
That same picinic table :D
Better shot of Yoshimura-san, who was very not bad looking >_>;;;
Yoshimura-san ala *pnish*! Aaaaaand apparently the farm only had four horses, so...that meant...
WE GOT TO RIDE THE SAME HORSES AS *PNISH*!! This is me on Sakura (Daiki's horse).
And Beri atop LUUUUUCYYYYYY (Eiji's horse, which actually ate about as much as he does) on the left and Cinnamon on Goro (Tuti's horse) on the right. Goro was very my-pace and slept whenever you stopped moving for more than 10 seconds.
True to their *pnish* counterparts, Lucy was always hanging around Sakura and following her everywhere XD
And in case you couldn't tell--going into the water and swimming with the horses was part of the package, and we definitely took advantage of it! It was a ton of fun, and if anyone comes to Japan and wants to do it, just let me know and I'll hook up with directions and all! They go year-round (no ocean swimming in the winter of course XD;;;) and speak English <3333
Okay, my time's about up. In other news, I'll have net (tentatively) of my own on the 27th *crosses fingers* Until then...!

As for the DVD: The DVD is going to be 4th+A, here (http://www.animate-shop.jp/ws/commodity_param/ctc/+/shc/0/cmc/4092643), and then there's an extra DVD for 5th+B (ARGH. I WANT 5TH+A) here (http://www.animate-shop.jp/ws/commodity_param/ctc/+/shc/0/cmc/4092644), but I think you have to buy something else to get it? There's ALSO another DVD for the extra Tokyo shows I think that doesn't come out til next FEBRUARY. Wtf.
no subject
Date: 2008-08-08 08:44 am (UTC)Ah. I thought the February release was for the 5th+B. Well, it makes sense that they put out a DVD with Kazuki and Saitou, I guess. Am still of the opinion that MMV begged them to come back to up the audience enthusiasm after the mess with Okayama.
Wanna see Taki!Kawakubo...... *pouts at Nelke/MMV and compels them to grant the wish*
