Okay wtf, am I just imagining this?

I was rewatching the Wedding Video (first BuriMyu backstage, for the uninitiated 8D) and when Nagayan holds up the sword for Tuti to film, he calls it a シャケ, and then Tuti makes a joke about it being alive and freshly caught from Hokkaido, because "shake" is Japanese for salmon.

For SOME STRANGE REASON I have in my head this memory if looking up "shake" and it also being a word for, like, a shard from a sword, and that that was why it was so funny -- it was a pun because "shake" could mean salmon or sword shard -- BUT I CANNOT FIND ANYTHING TO CORROBORATE THIS NOW.

Where the hell did I get that idea from, and is there any merit to it? Does anyone else have any idea what that meant (why Nagayan randomly called a sword a salmon)?

This is really bugging me >_>

Okay, that's really funny, because I had always just thought it was REALLY weird (but cute) that they were both just totally on the same wavelength with that whole "shake" thing, and had no idea about the fact that it could have also meant sword shard... I always thought it was just a weird, off-the-wall thing Tuti said, that Nagayan just picked up on somehow. O_O ...And sorry, that's really not helpful at all. :P Anyway. :P

Well considering that I looked high and low and could find NOTHING to indicate that shake had ANY other meaning than salmon, I think you're right and they were just THEM and eerily on the same wavelength :P I guess just because Tuti jumped on it SO QUICKLY and deadpan and all, I assumed it must mean something else.

Which just makes it all the more awesome :P They frighten me sometimes XD

XDDD Yeah, I kind of like it better that way, just thinking of them totally being on the same wavelength. ^_~

...Did you watch any of Shibatora, btw? I watched the first episode last night. I thought it was...really pretty cute. :D

It's really good--I don't think I'll have a problem watching the whole thing at all. :D :D

...No, actually. O_o I should probably look at their pictures more closely again, because it's possible that I missed them? But... yeah, I didn't notice them in that first episode, at least...

At SC, two of our translators are native Japanese speakers. I could ask one of them if you'd like. 8D *asks them dumb questions all the time*

I just kinda thought that they thought that the sword looked like a salmon... or something? I've never seen a fresh-caught salmon, so I just assumed they knew what they were talking about.

Just goes to show that, no, Tuti and Nagayan actually don't make as much sense as they try to make you believe. XD;

(As for Shibatora: Would we be able to hang out over the weekend and watch it instead of tomorrow/Friday, because I really do want to watch it. ^^)

Assuming I get paid today, I need to go to Animate to pick up DVDs. If I can do it after work, I plan on doing that, otherwise I'll have to go in the morning (and pray they let me pick them up still >_<). I plan on getting there pretty much when it opens, though, if I can't go tonight. So anytime after 11ish I should be free tomorrow!

Yay! Lets call it even and say I'll get there at 12, then? At least, if you don't mind me visiting your place. We can always continue to use my silly Mac back at my dorm if you'd prefer. :P
