Okay, I think I just realized something.

I don't...really like videos that use footage of Tuti and Nagayan acting on stage as characters to represent them in a shippy way.

Yes, I know. WHAT? I have no idea why I've only just come to this conclusion, but it makes sense to me at least.

Maybe I could make a small exception for AruHi because those characters are less distinctly defined than, say, Golden Pair or Gin and Hitsugaya. But when I see videos now that use footage from BuriMyu or TeniMyu (stage footage--backstage stuff is fine) it makes me feel a little weird.

Like, I trust the two of them enough to believe that, no matter what their relationship offstage, they would be consummate professionals on stage, and so when I look at footage of them as their characters...that's all I can see there. I'd like to think they put a little more umph into their performances and give us that nice chemistry we see from them, but...it's just something I really kind of appreciate as an afterthought I guess?

I love seeing them as Golden Pair, of course, but...I guess I really just love the shippiness they bring to GOLDEN PAIR themselves, not any shippiness of themselves they bring? ...That sounded more confusing than it did in my head, I promise.

I would rather see them be themselves even doing nothing special a hundred times offstage or backstage than see them smile or hold hands as their characters (or look like they wanna just tear into one another, as the case may be :P).

Am I making even a bit of sense? It feels weird, I dunno...like, I feel a LITTLE something when I see them as Golden Pair, but I feel like that's just because I ship GP, and maybe that's all that is I feel there now? Pleasure at them playing my OTP so well? I imagine of COURSE there's a little of me that feels happy, too, because it's Tuti and Nagayan, but...

Hrm :/

I don't think how you feel is weird at all. I actually feel the same way, and while I don't mind seeing footage of them on stage, persay, I always get a very different feeling when I see them doing something cute as characters than when I see them backstage, etc. And I think it's definitely an important distinction. I mean, of course I enjoy seeing them on stage in Tenimyu, and watching them interact like that is what initially fueled my interest in them as actors, but it's definitely not what continues to fuel my interest in them now? And when I look back, it's just one small part of what I like about them. Same with some of the really fun Burimyu scenes. Of course I get a kick out of them arguing and bantering on stage, but... I'd also rather see them interacting backstage in a heartbeat. <3

ah, but we have much more footage of them together onstage, plus it fits the music easier, I think... and it's a nice way to get more people into the fandom, I think, they go looking for some gin or kikumaru vid, and then find out a TxN vid and say "OMG want more" or something like that

I totally agree. it's not weird at all and it makes perfect sense to me as well. Actual onstage clips/footages would have more weight shipping wise if that was the only basis we have of them as a pair. But the thing is, there's so much more to base the pair on: blog entries, backstage clips, collaborations; the list is endless. When you have so much canon fodder, there's no need to base things off something where they're obviously just acting, because even if in some way it does reflect how they see each other, I agree with what you said that they're professional enough not to let it get in the way. :)

And the great thing is there IS so much stuff backstage, interviews, video footage, blog pics, we don't need them to do shippy stuff on stage to get our kicks and giggles :)

Precisely! That's what so great about this fandom. :D (But on a side note, Aru hi was freaking hot. Ugh the UST just slayed me. 8D)

Yah 8D And I think one of the reasons I still can like clips of THAT used to evidence shipping is because it was more of THEM giving life to that character (hell, their NAMES were the same even) than them taking on a character's role.

...But I'd still like to see someone write Tsuchiya/Nagayama >_> Or hell, some weird Nagayama/Nagayan :D OR EVEN BETTER: Tuti/Nagayama :DDDDDD

askjdkas I was telling Rei (I think?) ages ago how hot a threesome would be. Guh. Doppelganger!fic gets so hot sometimes, and I don't know which would be hotter, a Nagayama/Tuti/Nagayan sandwich or a Tsuchiya/Nagayan/Tuti one. I think I'm leaning more to the latter just because Tsuchiya is abusive (and I do hope I'm not mixing up roles in my head .__.).
