Anyone know how (or if it's even possible) to set Windows so that you can install Japanese-language-Windows-only software onto it?

I've installed Japanese software before with no problem (my scanner), but I just bought a hefty piece of equipment I'd like to use (mp3/video player), and the installation CD is telling me that it can't be installed on an English version of Windows, as does the installation handbook.

It looks like I can still drag-and-drop stuff manually and all, but if possible I'd REALLY like to use the software that came with it. I'm waiting for it to charge up so I can see how hard it's going to be without the software, but does anyone have any idea if I can set something in my regional settings or something and the software can install?

*sad panda*

Huh. Weird. Never had that problem before, myself. Then again, I haven't yet installed Japanese software that couldn't be installed on English Windows.

That's weird, the language shouldn't be an issue when installing a software o_o Plus if you installed the Japanese support, it goes Japanese automatically, right ?

I guess you could try to torrent the Japanese version of Windows or something like that...:/

Language is always an issue with some of the Japanese-specific software :/ It detects region coding for the OS--so I actually could easily change my Vista to the Japanese version (because it's the first OS of Windows' that is truly multiregional apparently o_O meaning EVERYTHING--from the start meny to programs to whatever--will change to the language you select at the click of a button).

So if I hadn't bought the OS in Japan, pretty much, I was screwed. But then I just went online and downloaded the free software for the US version :P (wtf torrenting Japanese version of windows?! That's like smashing a fly with a sledgehammer XD;;;)

All I have to say is -

BWAHAHAHAHA GET A MAC

Welcome dear one to the world of Bill Gates where even changing a lightbulb requires a whole new bundle of software that costs just as much as the original OS ♥

Except the software won't even work on your precious Mac :D And the problem was just the language the software was in--I actually just went to Sony's site and downloaded the English language version.

Works perfect now <33333

My comment was more along the lines of - unlike Windows, that markets different language OS for PCs, the Mac OS is already built to handle just about every major world language, and probably some not so major ones. So I can install whatever the hell I like without having to get one or the other :D

And like I said to Nacchi above--so is Vista :D

The problem is the region coding--unless I bought my computer in Japan, it wouldn't let me install it >_> so you'd be up the same creek.
