I had a 6-month-old barn owl owlet (which at that point, they're the size of adults, which is about a 3-foot wingspan) on its back, holding its legs with one hand so it couldn't get away while I measured its wingspan. I reached over it, leaning forward to write down the measurement in a notebook, and it wriggled one leg loose and slashed my arm open with a talon ♥ It stuck with me for a couple of years, but now it's almost gone.
