A day for fandom infamy.

People. Listen up.
To those of you who don't madly ship MoriDaiki, or ship something completely different, I apologize. Because this report is absolutely nothing BUT MoriDaiki. And it's not my fault, it's theirs. Today was...amazing. So unearthly amazing, I can barely accept it. This was better than Aru Hi, this was better than dates in Omotesandou Hills. This is more married than most MARRIED couples. This was...This was big. This was so very, very big. Tuti and Nagayan have absolutely nothing on Eiji and Daiki. And you're about to find out why.
Today was the day I'd been waiting for for so long, and OH MY GOD was it worth the wait *____* I have never ever seen so much blatant attraction played out between two people on stage. I thought they were bad enough at the On performances--apparently when left alone it's WAY WAY WORSE.
It all started out innocent enough--a little hint here and there. In the skit, Treasure Box 0.2, the data for the client included information all that described Daiki (Hobby: collecting figures, favorite manga: Saint Seiya) save for one crucial point that was changed: favorite color: blue. It had always previously been red XD
But the very, VERY best part came when Daiki stripped. And the stripping wasn't what was good for once *_____* Daiki changed shirts, no big deal, and then took off his pants. More striped blue boxer-briefs today, but I'd seen it enough I was almost used to it. I glanced over to the other side of the stage, at the curtain where guests come on and off stage. Eiji was somewhere back there, I daydreamed. If only I could see the look on his face watching Daiki out here with his pants down...
You know that saying, "Be careful what you wish for"?
Yeah, it was made for people like me.
The MOMENT I thought that, a little hole opened up in the curtain, and a hand poked through ever so slyly. Then, the hand pulled the hole a little bigger, and eyes and a nose popped out. And then, the entire head of Moriyama Eiji was poking out from the curtain. BLATANTLY SPYING. Hardly anyone noticed it at first, because, well, they weren't SUPPOSED to. If he locked eyes with anyone, he immediately put a finger to his lips to tell them to be quiet. Of course, though, an entire audience could only keep quiet so long, and Daiki soon realized something was up (please to be noting he's still GOT HIS PANTS AROUND HIS KNEES), and turned to look at the audience, questioning, "What's wrong?"
A few brave souls subtly indicated something on the other side of the stage required his attention, and he slowly turned around, and there's Eiji looking VERY sheepish, trying desperately to pull his head back away XDDDDDD
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" Eiji quickly came out, all apologetic.
"Whaaaat??? I just wanted to take a peek in and see how things were going and then I find you in THAT kind of situation. I was all raring to go before and then seeing you like that, now I don't really wanna do anything yanno..." XD
And this was the intro into the Leader/Fuku-leader talk corner yaaaay! Eiji started off by saying he'd brought birthday gifts, and Daiki was more than ready to accept them XD The first thing Eiji pulled out of the huge bag he'd brought was...
A flyer. For Eiji's play.
Daiki was less than thrilled, but Eiji reassured him there was more. And then pulled out a Santies flyer. He actually wanted to put both of them on the wall where some other flyers already were (mostly Eva stuff), but Daiki refused XDDDD Next came a REAL gift finally--"You said you've been wanting these for a while, so...I bought them for you ♥"
Turned out to be some cool socks (white and black pair, with red, yellow, and green stripes), which Daiki actually seemed really excited to get--I guess Eiji was telling the truth and actually put some manner of thought into Daiki's gift?
But no no no, it wasn't over yet! Eiji pulled a final little bag out and handed it to Daiki, who pulled out what was inside it.
Daiki: "...What's this? Wine?"
Eiji: *shakes head in mirth* "It's champagne."
This got Daiki to asking what the heck Eiji was there for anyways (he asked his question a few times), and every time Eiji would reply, "I just thought you might be feeling lonely, you know. It's the last day, after all." Daiki assured him he was FINE, every time.
They spent a good ten minutes or so then just messing around--Eiji kept wanting to look through all the stuff in Daiki's bookshelf, and Daiki probably grew a few gray hairs keeping him from touching the goods XDDDD He'd slap Eiji's hands, or pull him away, or PUSH him away, or try and distract him--they played a mini game of basketball with a huge yellow rubber ball at one point, throwing it into the audience. They even did an impromptu performance of their combo from On6, Asakusa Kinbae XD This all included lots and LOTS of touching and high-fives.
After getting fed up with Eiji trying to touch his crap, though, Daiki asked one more time why Eiji was there, and Eiji replied as before--he was there to make sure Daiki didn't feel lonely. And to make DOUBLY sure of that...
He brought friends.
At that point, in walked Kawamoto Naru and Wasshi! They were taking time out before their 7 PM show that evening to come by and wish Daiki happy birthday. Naru even brought a present! He passed an envelope to Daiki, who opened it eagerly. Inside was a Jisoku246 flyer wrapping up another piece of paper, with handwritten black marker しょうたいしょ ("invitation"). Daiki was instructed to bring that to the reception desk, and it was sure to get him in. Daiki was, understandably, skeptical XD He and Eiji acted out the best-case scenario (Eiji as the receptionist gladly took the invitation) and worst-case scenario (with Daiki as the receptionist and Eiji as a bumbling 'Sabo Daigi') ♥
The guys eventually had to leave, and Eiji too, and they all left to loud applause from the audience. Daiki was in high spirits by now, and moved quickly to the next corner: SINGING TIME! I was kinda bummed--I'd hoped that Eiji would sing something, and maybe--juuuuust maybe we'd get Daiki to sing even a few bars with him. It would've been a dream come true...but it was not to be XD;;;
Yuzawa came out as usual, and took his seat next to Daiki on stage. "Daiki-kun, I'm afraid I have some good news and some bad news..."
"The bad news," he continued, "Is that I've grown tired of teaching you--I really can't do much more for you at this point, so I give up." Daiki was kind of stunned, but couldn't say much. "The good news, though...is that I've asked MY teacher to come and take over. He's far better than me, and he can do wonders for you, I'm sure."
A pause.
"MORIYAMA-SENSEEEIIIII~~~~"
And out onto the stage once more stepped SEXY-CHAN. SDLFKUIHSLIUFHSLIFS REMEMBER THAT THING I SAID ABOUT BEING CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR? IT HAPPENS. TO ME AT LEAST.
He was wearing some weird green pope-hat, I have no idea what the point was, but he was acting really stuck-up and airy, as Yuzawa's sensei should be, I suppose XD They decided to sing Yozora no Mukou, and yes...that means...
MORIYAMA EIJI AND SANO DAIKI SANG A DUET.
(I copied the translation from another website--so definitely not mine. I'm lazy right now)
Daiki's lyrics: Noticing someone's voice
We hid ourselves
Beyond the park fence
The night wind was blowing
Eiji: The way your hand returned my grasp
As if you were trying to tell me something
Even now, in a soft place in my heart
That gesture squeezes my heart
Both: Ever since then
I wonder if we could come to believe in something...
Beyond the night sky
Tomorrow is already waiting
Apparently this is the song Daiki always sings when he goes to auditions ♥ Best. Duet. Ever. God, I wanted to WEEP when this happened. This kind of "dreams coming true" thing? DOESN'T HAPPEN TO NORMAL PEOPLE.
Yuzawa asked Eiji to score Daiki after they sang, and Eiji upped his score from 31 that morning to 38 ♥
After the show, Eiji hung out at the goods table while Daiki saw us all off next to him. I decided to cave and go to a Santies show, since Ozasa-san already had tickets to one the same weekend as Tuti's Uranos which I'm already going to. I walked up and selected the Feb. 9th evening show, and once Eiji realized I could speak more than just a few words of Japanese, he treated me like any other fan and talked and joked with me while we worked out the details of my ticket.
Let me say I'm not an Eiji fan--I think he's cool and funny, but I don't get weak in the knees around him, usually. But when he's there and talking to you and just being normal and funny....yeah, kinda hard to remember that I'm "not an Eiji fan" XDDDDD
I originally wasn't going to senshuuraku, because I wanted to get home early. But a ticket showed up on mixi at the last moment, at a pretty good number, and so I jumped on it and finally got it. And holy shit am I glad I did. If I had missed this show, now knowing what went on, I don't think I ever would have recovered.
I honestly believe this was THE best show I have seen yet. It moved me more than any AruHi show, it made me laugh more than any On6 skit, and I felt more privileged by what I got to see than at any moment before. And it is my intense pleasure to tell you guys about this as well.
I actually managed to get a pretty good seat, probably the second best I've had all the time, but since it was in the middle, the fact that it was 3rd row didn't really matter to me all that much :D Before the show started, while everyone was still trying to find their seats, Daiki would walk around the crowd, AMONG the seats, selling those red gloves I had a pic of up earlier. It was quite hilarious to watch him stepping over people and causing the biggest ruckus ever, and we all lapped it up ♥
While all this was going on, I was passing the time watching Evangelion that was playing on the screen. Thinking back to Eiji's show, I remembered him talking about, "Oh I saw you doing such and such earlier blahblahblah," and wondered where he'd been watching from, and realized it had to have been from the rafters above where the sound and light people were. I glanced up, and SURE ENOUGH, there he still was! Sitting there watching The Boy do his thing, even though his turn was almost over!
Now, I can't compare this to earlier shows, because I never thought to look to see if guests before hung around afterwards to see subsequent shows, but I have a very distinct feeling most of them didn't. So what the heck was Eiji still doing there? That bored? Or maybe he just wanted to see The Boy some more ♥ Whatever the reason, I wrote it off as not important and just basked in the glow of happiness that he was still there XD That, and the fact that he was still wearing the single red glove Daiki had given him earlier ♥
The show opened on time, nothing out of the ordinary, and the final skit for senshuuraku was Treasure Box 0.1, the interview skit again. Lots of fun new questions entered the lineup ("What's your favorite Kanjani 8 song?"), but the best part came when Rin had to play charades to get Besshi to guess what he was trying to tell him.
1) Snowman (guessed correctly)
2) Peanuts (failed, pass)
3) The Peanuts (a band XD failed, pass)
4) Moriyama Eiji (<--SO FUCKING HILARIOUS sldfuhsldifusl Daiki tried to sing a song like him, and really just failed spectacularly XD;;; Besshi kept thinking it was just him singing normal)
Another funny and endearing moment came at the end, when Besshi is supposed to come in and remove Spencer to get him to come to his real meeting, and reassuring Rin that the real interviewer will be there soon. In previous times, it's always been just this, and Spencer leaves immediately. But today, Besshi had a little "backup" come and remove Spencer--TECCHAN, IN RIN'S COSTUME. Arm-pads and everything XDDDDD The audience went crazy--mostly because Tecchan is, like, the cutest thing ever.
After the skit it segued into what was usually the guest corner, but since there was no guest for the final show (as with the first one) Daiki said he'd be doing this section alone. He decided to open with a series of video clips for the audience of some of his drama works--Jigoku Shoujo and such. After it was done, he threw out a question to the audience: what sort of role did they want to see him in next?
Some of the replies: a father, a high-school student/college student (here Daiki made a crack about Eiji playing a jr. high student in a certain musical even though he was waaaay past the age), a doctor, and someone even dared to toss out, "OKAMA." (Okama, for the uninitiated, is the
Japanese term for a REALLY flaming gay guy). Daiki actually took this one very seriously and said that was the only role he could never do (partly, he said, because it felt like treading on Wasshi's territory WTF XD)--even pretending to be a REAL girl like in the middle-schooler skit from On5 was super hard, and he kept messing up.
He was about to ask another question...when suddenly all the lights went out, for about 5 seconds. Then, the screen lit up, and a video started playing on its own.
It was Shiraishi from Treasure Box, but this was NOT the video that played for the skit. This was...something different. The video told Daiki he had a special present coming, and to read the letter that was taped to the bottom of the table on the floor. The video flickered off, and the lights came back up.
Daiki was 100% confused (and asssured everyone later he had absolutely NO idea), but decided to go along with it. He reached under the desk and found a red envelope taped to it. After opening it, he read it silently to himself first, and then aloud: it was instructions to the audience to, "sing along in a loud voice."
Yup, it was "Happy Birthday" time :D
Because at that very moment the lights went out again, and from off stage walked Besshi, Yuzawa-san, and...
Eiji. Eiji, with a cake. Not Wasshi. Not Tuti. Not Mizuki. Eiji.
Eiji who had stayed behind for this simple reason. Music came over the speakers, and everyone sang, and at the end Besshi helped Daiki blow out the 2 and 9 candles that topped the cake. Eiji walked over to the bookshelves and snatched up the small bottle of champagne he'd given Daiki earlier, and instructed Besshi to pour everyone glasses. Yuzawa took the opportunity to eat almost all the strawberries off the cake, but not before Eiji nabbed a few himself and fed them to Daiki by hand ♥
While everyone drank up, Besshi announced that there were more gifts waiting, and a new video started playing.
A teddy bear sitting on a table appeared, and in Eiji's very badly disguised falsetto, it began to imitate Daiki in D-room XD You could clearly SEE Eiji standing behind the bear moving it around, too, which made it even more hilarious. The bear pretended to drink a can of beer at the end and then fall asleep in a drunken stupor, and the camera zoomed in for a moment, until you could hear the sound of another can opening, then it pulled back to reveal Eiji drinking the beer himself XDDDDDD
Next the scene cut to Wasshi running down a street towards Eiji holding the camera late at night (you could tell it was Eiji because they had a conversation). Wasshi flipped open his phone to show it was 1:49 AM that morning, Daiki's birthday, and wished him happy birthday. Then complained that Daiki hadn't given him any D-room gloves and how very very cold he was XD
Next was Kida-san, from Treasure Box, wishing him happy birthday, and then Tuti gave his own congratulations outside a yakiniku place, with Plusism rounding out the group. All the while this video played, Daiki would alternate between watching the screen and turning back towards Eiji who was right behind him with a smile on his face that was the most beautiful thing I've probably ever seen. It was quite clear who'd orchestrated the whole thing.
When the video ended, they all stood, and asked Daiki if he had anything to say. Before he could start, though, Besshi mentioned that he did have one final card to read, and would Daiki rather wait until after that to say anything? If he'd known what the final card would do to him, Daiki probably would have preferred to speak his thoughts first XD;;;
Besshi took a card from his pocket, and opened it, and started reading it. It was from Sano Mizuki, Daiki's brother. And by the time Besshi was barely a few lines in, Daiki was bawling. I don't mean tearing up, I mean there were tears streaming down his face, he was wiping them away over and over, and sniffling loudly, pressing his face into his hands, he was crying, and crying good.
Mizuki said so many amazing, beautiful things in that letter. Remarking that it was 29 years to the day since he met Daiki, since they became brothers, and that he was so very, very proud of him, and so thankful to him. Hell, the entire AUDIENCE was crying by the end of it, I was definitely in tears myself! I wanted so badly for someone to just go up there and hug the guy, because he so needed it--Eiji at least brought out tissues afterwards :)
After this, Daiki was allowed to say his piece, and it just broke my heart--he went on and on, all the while still bawling, about how he had wanted D-room to be perfect for everyone, but there were screwups and messups, avoidable and not, and he was so frustrated, but having everyone there supporting him and all meant so much to him and lsidufhslidfs I CAN'T EVEN WRITE IT WITHOUT TEARING UP.
The FINALLY managed to get to the singing corner, ending the show with Tamashii no RUFURAN, and Yuzawa merrily let Daiki know that for his final score he....DROPPED 2 POINTS. He ended up with 36 points--about half of what Yuzawa recommended he be for a musical.
When he asked Daiki why he wanted to be in a musical so bad, Daiki said he wanted to be in BuriMyu XDDDDD What role? "Ulquiorra!
The show ended with a long speech of thanks, and calling Besshi out and thanking him personally for all his help. Both got large rounds of applause, and of course that made Daiki start tearing up again XD
Good fricking lord. Best Day Ever.

When the video ended, they all stood, and asked Daiki if he had anything to say. Before he could start, though, Besshi mentioned that he did have one final card to read, and would Daiki rather wait until after that to say anything? If he'd known what the final card would do to him, Daiki probably would have preferred to speak his thoughts first XD;;;

And Mizuki. I love him now. Like, seriously love him. What a wonderful brother he is.

Date: 2008-01-23 04:25 am (UTC)It made me really happy to hear about how much they all love Daiki, because putting that together must have taken some work. I would have loved to see Eiji and Daiki interacting like that.
