I'm thinking of getting one of these (http://www.amazon.com/Hauppauge-WinTV-HVR-950-Tuner-Personal-Recorder/dp/B000J1CCGA/ref=pd_bbs_3/105-7793044-8787668?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1191385912&sr=1-3)--but going to have to have it sent to my parents probably first, and have them ship it to me then.
That lets me record TV right onto my laptop--very convenient for uploading XD
And you can get SkyPerfect anywhere--just go into any decent-sized electronics store and fill out a form (definitely want to take a Japanese speaker with you, though, if you're not very familiar. I did it by myself but needed native speakers to help me finish the actual sign-up process >_<).
You can PROBABLY get it by the time it airs if you really want it :D
But since I am gonna be in Japan for 1 year. I wonder if it's worth buying SkyPerfect. My current little TV is not compatible with SkyPerfect either Y_Y
I definitely think it's worth it--with the yokubari pack you get almost 70 channels for 3000 yen a month, and that includes a bunch of the popular channels (including Animax for anime, Theater Television for NaiPani, and Eplus for Aru Hi).
I mean taking into account my crazy studying timetable and how I am struggling to get to Tokyo at least once every single month (Tenimyu, Burimyu, pnish, etc....) Y___Y I am hardly having time to watch TV, even the current free one Y__Y
Maa, if I can get a job in Japan after graduating, that's gonna be a different story :))
