LOL WTF JPN?
23 July 2007 11:03 amXD So, thanks to Eiji, I've learned two new acronyms the Japanese use (like our lol, brb, etc), but not just in type--IN SPEECH o_O How many of US actually say "lol" out loud? >_>
First there's 'H/K' (standing for 'hanashi ga kawaru' = 'the (subject of our) talk will change (now)') which looks to be a kind of equivalent to 'btw' (like if you were talking about one topic, to change it you'd say, "By the way, I heard blahblahblah...")
Then there's KY, which is apparently NOT the personal lubricant I had hoped Eiji was talking about at first XD This one stands for 'kuuki ga yomenai' ('can't read the atmosphere'--kind of like, the person doesn't understand what's going on) so I guess it'd be equivalent to our 'wtf' XDDDDD
I totally want to use some of these in conversation now 8DDDDD

Date: 2007-07-23 04:34 pm (UTC)That sounds...so weird to me XD well, I suppose it sounds as weird as using something like "lol" in real life, but still! It'd take me longer to say "H/K" than to just say, "Hanashi ga kawaru kedo~" plus I can only imagine the level of intimacy you'd have to have with a friend to be able to use that and not get O___O thrown your way :D
