Ok, I'm going to be mean here and fangirl Mitsuru some more while telling you all about one of her fics I just finished reading that is so omg awesome and sdlfkjsdflksjflsd and you people will have to wait a long long long long time to read it because it's 20something pages long in Japanese and that takes a long time to transcribe and stuff.

SO. Last night, I decided to finish off the last novel of Mitsuru's I'd received. Most of you probably saw the fic I posted on [livejournal.com profile] tutixnagayan that was one of her shorts I translated. That was her gag style. I'm in the process of doing another one called, "Hoshi no Densetsu," right now that is more Mitsuru-esque. It involves Nagayan lamenting not being able to see Tuti for almost a month, and realizing it's Tanabata, then comparing himself and Tuti to the two lovers in the Tanabata myth (read about it here if you're not familiar with it). I won't spoil what happens in it, but it's so mushy and love and typical Mitsuru and I love it. Plus it's not too long, so shouldn't be a chore to translate.

But this...oh this that I read last night is...no no, not TYPICAL Mitsuru, but CLASSIC Mitsuru. It's beautiful and amazing and aslidahlfsuiyflsifusdfs WHY DOES SHE WRITE SO WELL? WHY IS SHE SUCH A GENIUS STORYTELLER?

The title of the novel is First, and it's a series of connected vignettes from Nagayan's POV revolving around certain "firsts" he experiences in regards to Tuti--"first feelings," "first touch," "first exchange," etc. This would make it, you guessed it, a get-together fic. I was JUST lamenting the other day that I really wanted to read one by her, and lo and behold TPTB delivered!

But of course, being Mitsuru, it can't be just your typical get-together fic, no no. This is told from Nagayan's point of view, and takes place back during the St. Rudolph performances, and what really kind of struck me was the fact that you can't tell it's supposed to be a get-together fic, or a romantic fic at all really. I mean, you have hints, but it's all just so...subtle. It's like seeing the world through Nagayan's eyes. The whole first part is Nagayan noting things in the backstage area, what people are doing around him, how everyone's acting, noting little details like Kimeru singing or Tuti being loud. Nagayan's been having trouble sleeping, and you the reader can feel it in the almost dream-like way she tells the story. His thoughts flit from one subject to the next, and each paragraph break brings you to a new place.

Eventually Nagayan falls asleep on a couch in one of the dressing rooms, and when he wakes up it's really slowly, and confused, like he forgot he even went to sleep. And he turns his head to the side and there's Tuti. Just sitting there, staring at him. And then there's just this silent minute or two where nothing happens and sdfuhslifuhlgr it's wonderful writing. Tuti asks him if he's all right, and of course Nagayan says he's fine, and asks how long he was out. Tuti tells him there's still 30 minutes or so left before they have to get ready, so he can sleep some more, but Nagayan's difficult and says he needs to get up anyways and stretch to get ready. Tuti tells him he really should rest some more, but Nagayan ignores him and starts to stand.

So of course he falls, because his legs can't support him yet, and Tuti lunges forward to catch him. Soft reprimanding ensues, and then out of nowhere, to shut him up, Nagayan kisses him. Not, like, a romantic kiss, just a kiss. Then he pulls back and walks away and Tuti's completely, "................................"

When I write it up here like this it all seems so sudden and out of the blue but w;fsdifuhslfiushlf IT'S NOT. IT'S SO SLOW AND CRAFTED AND AMAZINGLY WROUGHT. The whole thing feels like a long dream, and I actually half expected her to pull some twist at the end, but that actually would've been copping out, and I like what she wound up doing better.

This is only about half of the fic, what I've written here--but I dunno, I feel like I'm not doing it justice, so I'm gonna stop there.

It's erotic and sexy and beautiful and just just AMAZING. Nothing like any fic I've read before, and I just want to bring it to you all and SHOW you *______* Even better, she bases much of it around Nagayan's, Minami Guchi.

I won't say that Tuti and Nagayan are 100% in-characer (or, erm, true to their personalities? XD;;;) but it's amazing seeing this take on them. WHY CAN'T I HAVE THE FREE TIME AND MONEY TO JUST TRANSLATE FICS ALL DAY???
