Soooo as you may know, this evening was Western Mode's opening night! I won't be uploading any sort of lengthy summary and whatnot until at least after Nagoya senshuuraku or something, but for now, I can give you a nice little recap of what the show was about, who each guy's character was, and how they all related to each other :D For that + some pics from the pamphlet to whet the appetite, get thee behind this cut:
Moriyama Eiji? Playing a 20-year-old kid? I would've told you you were out of your mind, that it was a ludicrous suggestion, that while some people could get away with it (Nagayan maybe, Tecchan sure), Eiji was not one of those lucky few blessed with the ability to look half their age. And then I saw this face in the pamphlet:

I'll let you have a moment to pick your jaws up off the floor. Eiji plays Ronnie, the 20-year-old grandson of his village's founder who collects money from the other townspeople (but uses most of his own, earned from selling off several prized possessions) to leave the town and hire men to come rid his town of the ruffians who've overrun it.
Wasshi and Daiki are a bit more appropriate...

Wasshi's, of course, Wanizuka :D Though this Wanizuka appears to be from before Treasure Box, as he picks up the vest and chaps he wears there in this show :D He's a traveller far from his home of Japan who decided he wanted to see the world and made his way across the Pacific to America. However, with no real plan of what to do once he got there, he soon found himself wandering alone and penniless and was passed out on the side of a desert road when he was picked up by...

Daiki's character, Harry! Don't be fooled by the badass look of the pamphlet; Harry's an actor in a Wild West show who, together with his best friend and co-star Cress (Ooyama Masashi), is on the search for fame and fortune as an actor but not really getting anywhere. He has a habit of picking up poor stragglers and dragging them into the troupe, as he did with Wanizuka and Avery (Hashimoto Taito).
Last but most certainly not least:

This photo is from the pamphlet and obviously has very little to do with how he looks on stage, so...I kind of can't wait for this show to be over. Because only then will they likely upload any pictures of them in costume. Because Tuti's character, Coleman? Only about the fucking hottest *pnish* play character I've ever seen ever hands down not kidding fuuuuuuuuck.
I'm so not even kidding. Picture a lean, slick, long leather jacket over an equally toned body, hat slung low over his eyes, clothes perfection, with the personality that's like the perfect combination of Shisui and Akatsuki with a dash of Garakusha for charm--and you've maybe come close to Coleman *____* Every single second that man was on stage, you wanted to just melt in place over how hot the guy was. DAMN. In the show, Coleman is the cool gun-muscle working for Albert, the guy responsible for all the misery in Ronnie's town. He's not a bad guy per se, but he's definitely not what you'd call a good guy, like the others. He respects his boss deeply and is not squeamish about using force to get what he needs.
The show itself is as follows:
It opens with Ronnie leaving his town to find help, as mentioned above. He happens across Harry and Cress putting on a very convincing show for several onlookers which involves dispatching a bunch of goons with their superior gun skills. Ronnie mistakes their performance for an actual feat of heroics and hires them to come rid his town of baddies, which Harry et al. assume means he wants them to come run off a rival theatre troupe XD;; *insert the entire plot to A Bug's Life here* Seriously XD;;;
When the theatre troupe finally realize what they've gotten themselves into, Ronnie takes responsibility for stupidly not realizing who they were in the first place and goes to take down Big Boss Albert himself but is aided by Harry who also has a score to settle with Robert Ford (Itou Kentarou), a hired gun, because dun dun duuuunnnn Robert Ford is the same Robert Ford who shot and betrayed Jesse James, whom Harry routinely portrayed in his act. You then find out that Harry feels a special connection to Jesse James because he and his mother had their debt paid off when he was young by a stranger passing through who shared a meal with them: Jesse James. As such, he wants to get revenge on Ford and goes along with Ronnie for the climactic battle. Wanizuka and Avery eventually wind up helping them, along with a reluctant Cress who shows up at a climactic moment to save his friends (after having refused to have any part in the suicide mission).
The show ends on a happy note with Albert and Coleman leaving the town peaceably after the villagers revolt (led by Ronnie'sgirlfriend boyfriend friend??? Todd aka "Oh hi I'm just here to be the guy who looks like Parvati and likes to feel up my best friend and be dramatic when he goes off to die honorably" :DDDDD) giving it a strangely happy ending that I'm not used to seeing in the Modes XD Like, NO ONE DIED! NO ONE! Well, a few extras who were bad guys died. But really no one of note died! And everyone was happy and all at the end! Hell, even Ford actually is shot by Jesse James (the real one, who did not actually die but had lain low in the village) and then the two just go off into the sunset and rob trains again together for the rest of their lives WHAT.
As far as who I want to slash (because it's a *pnish* show, how can I not?), there was unfortunately not a lot of super gay fanserviceoutside of Tuti himself, which makes me miss Yotti :( It was a good show, and the characters were fun, but all the potential pairings lack a certain little something to really push them into the slashy segment. Behold:
--Harry/Cress (Daiki/Masashi) - best friends, they're a lot alike, but still have their own biting complaints about each other. Epic bromance, but they lacked really any of those defining scenes where you see just how much one cares about the other.
--Ronnie/Todd (Eiji/Naoto) - best friends, again, and they actually get more moving scenes than others, but Todd's on stage a total of about 10 minutes :/ And you don't get much back story on him, so it's a little hard to really appreciate the relationship that's being hinted at when you know so little about the characters.
--Coleman/???? (Tuti/GOD SOMEONE, ANYONE, PLEASE) - SERIOUSLY. I MUST HAVE SOMEONE FOR THIS DUDE. I mean, there are candidates, but they're either waaaaay too old (Albert) or waaaaay too young and also already in love with their best friend (Ronnie) so :(((((( I feel like, after I have a better understanding of the characters, I may explore more with his interactions with Ronnie, because they had kind of this weird tension between them that was almost a little like respect or something, but it was hard to define (also, Todd would have plenty of reason to be jealous over a hot sack of manmeat like Coleman 8D So there's that)
In other news: Taito was just all manner of adorable and can play the guitar (!!! *resolutely not imagining him and Tuti having jam sessions*) and NAGAYAN (and Kime! And Kuranuki!) CAME TO SEE OPENING NIGHT WHAT. Couldn't hold yourself back or something, dude?
OKAY, GUYS. I'M READY FOR ROUND 2 NOW 8DDDDD
