Okay! Let's get started on this RH recap! There's no way I'm rewriting the report, since it really is the EXACT same show as last year, just with a few tiny differences. If you need a recap of the actual show, you can read my report from last year here :D

For everyone else, behind the cut!

So, as I knew I would, I got lost trying to find the theater >_> A theater I've been to, quite literally, a dozen times. THIS IS HOW HORRIBLE SHINJUKU STATION IS. I swear it's like a ninja mansion: exits are not where you're sure they were! (note to self: A-15 if you're coming from the Oedo line, or a right out of the South Exit from the Yamanote!)

I wound up getting to the theater about 20 min to showtime, as opposed to the hour early I'd MEANT to be, and so Nakano-san, a friend I made at the tea party last Saturday, and I didn't have time to chat really. We went inside, and I opted not to get goods that night, so we then separated and went to our seats.

My seat...wasn't HORRIBLE. It was hardly the best, and kinda off to the side, but not bad. I was actually kinda glad to be sitting far back, because then I could surreptitiously look around and see if anyone I "knew" was there :D No spotting of Nagayan, unfortunately, buuuuut...

About 1 min before curtain, someone walked past me in the walkway beside me, then continued on down a few rows before sitting himself down on the end. He had to turn to face everyone to put his bag under his chair, and that's when I saw that TSUCHIYA YUUICHI was going to be sitting a mere 4 rows in front of me 8DDDDD He was sitting beside some guy who looked like Director Hottie McSexpants from the back (well, they had the same hair :P) but other than that, he was pretty quiet through the show. It was kinda weird, watching him watch a show....but enjoyable 8D A+, would stalk again!

With regard to changes in the show, let's go through them now!

Cast outfits are, of course, all different, except for one: Yanagizawa, who plays Matsuura/Hideyoshi (Daiki's character) is wearing the exact same shirt/pants Daiki wore last time XD Takiguchi looked like he'd shaved his head (DO NOT WANT), Kouda/Ranmaru's actor went completely blond and looked weird for it XD;;

Tecchan though. WOW. TECCHAN IS HOT GUYS. He wears some shiny black jacket or something and just looks so...HOT XD

While the overall show is the exact same--same characters for the most part, same storyline--there are lines which are slightly different and some scenes which are gone entirely. For instance, in last year's show, there was an adlib scene every show with Nobunaga inspecting items in his/Ohtsuka's fanny-pack and being amazed by them--a camera, a mirror, a measuring tape, deodorant, etc. That scene's entirely gone now, unfortunately, and I really liked it ;_;

Wasshi's character, Nakashima (formerly Eiji) now carries around a video camera for the last half of the show, capturing much of the action on film, where before he had just fought or run around.

Ranmaru doesn't try to kill himself on Akechi's sword on realizing he has been reborn as a really ugly guy XD;;;

Speaking of Ranmaru, he and Katsuie get different weapons this time! Previously, Ranmaru has two small scythes he kept in his belt to fight with, while Katsuie had a long spear. This time, it is Ranmaru who has the spear, and Katsuie has a scimitar *___* TakiYuki with a scimitar? Fuckyes 8D Especially in period clothing XD

Perhaps the BEST change by far, though, was Nakashima's outfit for the final fight scene. Last time, Eiji came out dressed as a villager and had to fight with this big, unwieldy hoe that kept making him fall over XDDDD

This time, though, when everyone comes out in their awesome costumes, Wasshi comes waddling out...in a PINK KOMONO with a BIG PINK BOW IN HIS HAIR 8DDDDD The entire audience was laughing and clapping when he walked on, probably the biggest reaction of the evening XDDDD He traded in the hoe for a tiny little dagger, quite nice XD

There were a few scenes that I didn't remember from the initial run, but maybe it was just because of the different actors confusing me.

Overall, I have to say, though, that I REALLY liked the Eiji&Daiki version a TON better. The cast just nailed their roles better, I can't think of a single person who was better this time around than before.

The new Tomoki (previously Saitou Yasuka) just didn't have the stage presence or comedic timing Yasuka did, and thus despite his being one of the most important characters, it was very easy to forget him and hard to accept him during his biggest scenes >_<

Hideyoshi's actor (previously Daiki) did an acceptable job, but Daiki just did that much better before, MADE Hideyoshi himself, had the facial expressions, speech patterns all down pat. Wasshi as Nakashima did well also, but again Eiji was just that much better that it was hard to accept him.

Hell, even Gaku was a better homeless guy than the new one XD The new guy was on crutches for some reason wtf? XD Turns out the guy hurt his leg the day before opening night!! So it was real :P Not bad enough to not be able to do the show, but enough to need a cast and crutches o_O Good on him! Still, his acting was...meh :P

Overall, gotta say that I definitely liked the previous version better. Perhaps it was too much like seeing, say a favorite TeniMyu performed by a new cast or something, I really felt the acting took a step down (and where it didn't, it was obvious the actor had really taken notes from the previous one, as with Kuranuki's Ohtsuka being pretty much exactly like Ryousuke's) or just didn't like the direction the person took.

Going to see it 2 more times though, so hopefully a lot of it was just first show jitters! :D

As for the after-show, Tuti was his usual loud, happy self XD He spoke mostly about how weird it was for him to be standing there on stage talking when 5 min before he'd been in the audience watching, and compared his views on the new show to the previous version. Once Wasshi and the 2 guests came out, they kinda took over.

Yanagizawa, Hideyoshi's actor, is probably better known as Muromachi from TeniMyu's Yamabuki, the break-dancing tennis player :D Goaded by the others on stage, he showed us some of his moves, which were AMAZING O_O Then they tried to make Tuti show off his skills too XD But he made a small effort and then complained that he was tired :P Ass.

After the show, Naru was in the lobby selling tickets to Jisoku 246 vol 3 XD I swear, sometimes it feels like he just comes to *pnish* shows to mooch their fans :P He did it at On6 too XDD Granted Wasshi was in both shows, so it was kinda fair...but still :P

Speaking of Ons -- we got a flyer for On7 in our packet in the seats, which included no new info except the ticket prices (4500) and the theme: matsuri (festival -- hence the taiko drums!)

Also included was this adorable little picture:

...trying to say something, guys? :DDDDD
