How many times has someone on your friends list posted about something and you were really confused, but you didn't want to ask because you knew you SHOULD know? How many times have you felt 'guilty' asking a close LJ friend a question that should be 'obvious'?

Well, here's your chance. If you've missed a few things, missed an entry and are confused, ask me anything. Even something EXTREMELY basic, like where I live! I'm not going to get irritated at any of the questions - we've all missed things before, so ask away!

Umm... Who exactly is this Besshi person? (Actually, I bet I've asked this on Lube Chat once. XD)

What were you doing before you actually moved to Japan?

How old are you?

When did you start studying Japanese?

What was your first anime fandom, if you have one?

Besshi (別紙) aka Becchin is Besshi Keiichi. He's Daiki's closest friend outside of *pnish* (and possibly inside *pnish* as well--though Daiki's said if he ever has something troubling him, he always talks to his brother or Eiji first) and kind of a kouhai of sorts.

I don't believe they're in the same agency, but Besshi is kind of like...if *pnish* had a "*pnish* Jr's" branch, he'd be the head of it. He works really closesly with *pnish* (as you've seen--he's been in Treasure Box, Wonder Box, Secret Box, and every On since On4, plus D-room and Santies and all the Happy *pnish* Birthday events every July), usually helping out behind the scenes with little on-stage stints.

Besshi was with Daiki when Daiki decided he'd take the trip to Osaka to see Eiji and Tuti in BuriMyu (if you remember that loooong trip from January 2006), and routinely hangs out with Daiki outside of rehearsals, going to see shows together.

He's really quiet and unassuming, but a very fun guy. When he makes his break, he's going to have QUITE the fan following, but for now he's just Daiki's friend :)

Waiting to move to Japan :)

I went to high school in Louisiana from 1999-2003, then college at Texas A&M University from 2003 to 2007. Upon graduation I spent 3 months working at home at World Market, and then I actually started life :P

I've pretty much been in school my whole life up til now. I've had 2 real jobs (read: jobs I got paid for), and only worked for 9 months while actually attending school (the final 2 semesters of college). This is my first REAL real job, where I'm not going to school or on summer break.

Hahaha... I had a question, but I felt too old and stupid to ask so I just went to Google. But, wow, ok... now your posts make a lot more sense. ^__^

1) I'm 22, but I'll be 23 before the next Bleach show starts at the end of March :) I just graduated college last May.

2) I started "learning" Japanese when I bought a soundtrack CD for a series I was into really early on in high school. I knew absolutely nothing about the written language--thought it was all kanji like Chinese--so I was really confused at first why some of the characters seemed to be only one syllable (the kana) while other seemed to be 2 or 3 sometimes (the kanji) ♥

I bought two books at Barnes&Noble in 10th grade, and started reading on my own. The books were of course all in romaji, so I never really learned kana like you do in an actual classroom.

I didn't really make it too far beyond understanding basic sentence structure and what nouns/verbs/adjectives LOOKED like until college. When I first got to college, I learned about the file-sharking program DC++, which my campus had a hub on. This meant I could download things from other students on campus at PHENOMENAL speeds, and quickly ate my way through series like Hikaru no Go (a 3-day marathon), Gravitation (at that point I was very much not a fan of yaoi, but I knew it had to be really popular for SOME reason, so I downloaded it...and that was the beginning of the end XD), and this weirdly popular show that I could NOT understand why--Prince of Tennis.

Watching so much anime exposed me to native speakers (to soem extent) and armed with the knowledge that I had to understand what was okay to say and what was NOT okay for a young woman to say in Japanese, I picked up a lot just from my basic knowledge already and being able to match up subtitles with the spoken Japanese. Hear a certain phrase 3 or 4 times in different shows with roughly the same translation and it starts to stick.

Fall semester of my Junior year, I decided to see how good I was (or bad XD) and wanted to take a class. But I had NO idea where I stood--if I was ahead of where I thought I was, or far behind, so I didn't want to dive into a class unprepared. I contacted the single Japanese prof our uni had and asked if I could sit in on his class, explaining my situation, and he agreed. So I "took" my first class that year, starting in what was the 2nd semester, and finding it was pretty far below what I could do. I moved on to the intermediate class after that, still pretty far ahead of the class, but it was very helpful to actually LEARN what I already knew for the most part, finally understanding why things worked a certain way.

I realized after a while that I pretty much knew all the grammar already, it was the speaking practice I needed, and when the prof realized that, he set me up with one of the Japanese students who was in an exchange program with the school (we have an exchange program with Osaka University) and I finally had a conversation partner.

You can go back in my LJ to around fall 2006 and see me spazzing about him--it was REALLY weird. Up to that point I had never spoken Japanese aloud really. I'd been watching anime for years, and had picked it up, but had never once opened my mouth and had a conversation, but it came really naturally. It's one of the reasons I'm so into langauges and linguistics--it all makes sense to me. Given enough time I can do pretty well with a language.

The rest, as they say, is history :)

3) My first serious anime fandom (as in, I realized it wasn't actually made in America) was Slayers, that a friend at my church loaned me. I fell in love with Zelgadis, and to this day love Zel/Line ♥

My first fandom I did any kind of writing (that I'm proud of, I mean) for was D.N.Angel, which I'm still heavily into and write for, though not nearly as often :)

I've never been as seriously into a fandom as *pnish*/TxN though *sighs*

Ah! You're a year older than my best friend. That's really cool. XD

That's also really, really interesting about your
"process" for learning the language. I'm so happy that I'm already pretty much doing the same thing... the university I'm going to has every thing I need to teach English in Japan, which has, in recent times, become my goal. (And when I get fired as a teacher, I'll head to the stage...)

Slayers was my first "real" anime fandom, because I have never counted the Sailor Moon dub as anime. XD Zel's always been my favorite and Zel/Lina always brings me glee! :D

I'm scared, I think the *pnish*/TxN fandom is going to swallow me whole...

I always kinda wondered this for no particular reason, but seeing as you're 22, do you drive (not in Japan, obviously :P) and did/do you own a car? I don't think I've ever seen you mention driving before!

I was scared to drive at first 8D My parents had to make me get my learner's permit, and I never wanted to use it, so I didn't get my license until the summer before my senior year of high school, but I love driving now.

I did drive: had a pretty nice car, a hand-me-down when my mom got a new car. I very much do NOT want to drive in Japan though--can't afford a car anyways, but geez it's scary enough RIDING in one let alone driving here. These people are horrible drivers >_> sheesh.

Besshi, unfortunately, doesn't have a blog >_< He is, however, in the same management company as Eiji! Here (http://www.ymo-inc.com/lovelive/besshi.html) is his profile there.

Hasegawa Tetsurou, aka Tecchan, has a blog, though! You can find it here (http://blog.livedoor.jp/perog_net39/), though it's pretty new ♥

Aniki also has no blog :( There are a few fansites out there, but nothing official that I know of. He' still on the Johnny's payroll, though, so that might have some influence.

Curry Delivery Guy hasn't been around lately ;_; it's been different people the past few weeks! Wonder if he quit... Alas, my love! XD;;;

I had no idea what this pnish thing was. I'm certainly not an expert now, but at least I have a vague idea what you're talking about. Before, I thought it had something to do with Prince of Tennis, but I see that some of the guys were in a play... which is why I probably had that idea.

Did you ever see any of the Slayers OVAs? They brought Crispin Freeman back for Premium's english dub and he does this HILARIOUS commentary with the "new" Lina.

For whatever reason, that doesn't entirely disturb me. ♥

Aww D;
Probably he asked for a vacation? o.o
