Mmm...electric...
20 November 2007 10:11 pmBrandy and I went out for dinner at a fun ramen place across the street from my apartment, and to work off some of the post-dinner weight we stepped into Yamada Denki, the local version of Best Buy here, to ogle the stuff I can't afford ♥
We found WAY more than I can have right now, but a lot that I'm seriously thinking of buying for when I move to Tokyo--a washer/dryer (TOGETHER) unit, an oven, a TV, a VCR/DVD player, and a toaster oven, too, but then she went and BOUGHT ME ONE OF THOSE ;__; So I have a pretty new toaster oven ♥
While wandering the PC floor, my eye was caught by a strangely thin one, and when one of the employees saw me eyeing it, he came up and asked if he could tell us about it (apparently it was new?):

This is the NEC Valuestar N. And what you see there is the entire computer.

Like the imacs, this baby's thinner than thin, and sleeker than sleek. The keyboard and mouse were completely wireless, and all the components are housed inside the monitor that's less than 2 inches thick.
Around the corner was a Sony computer similarly thin, except it had this bit of awesome:

Clear touchscreen! The monitor was surrounded by an inch-wide clear glass/plastic (didn't check) border that had sensors to push for volume, power, monitor adjustment, etc. Super space-agey :D
I'm definitely happy with my laptop now, but I know what I'm getting the next time I purchase a desktop! The best thing is, these things are over $2000 on the Sony site (and the NEC computers aren't even available outside of Japan), but in Yamada Denki they didn't even top $1500 :D
